Chapter Two

Jonathan POV

I woke up feeling the weight of a tiny frame curled into me. I looked down and saw it was Lea. She must have woken up at some point and decided to curl into me. I missed this. We used to cuddle and end up drifting off too sleep so much when we were younger and in between shows.

I felt her stir and tried to remain still. It was then in that moment I realized this was most likely the longest she had been asleep in the last 7 days. I gently rubbed my hand through her hair and stroked her cheek before I closed my eyes again and lowered my head closer to hers. The gentle snores were vibrating in my ear.

I woke up to see my phone vibrating like crazy while the messages continued to sound and make my phone almost fall off the bedside cabinet. I picked it up rubbing my eyes furiously as I had just that second woke up and I was still in that sleepy daze. I saw the words ‘gone’ and I instantly began to worry who had died. I kept thinking who it could be, praying it wasn’t my mum or dad, or my grandparents, or my friends, or maybe someone I had met recently. These thoughts rang crazily through my mind until I saw the contact name come up as Lea’s mom.

I didn’t even think before I threw on the clothes from the day before that were still discarded on my bedroom floor and went straight to my front drive, opening my car door and heading straight to her parents house. It was only an hour drive away and I needed to see them in person. I must have speeded the whole way as I reached a new high of how quickly I got at their house. I bleeped myself into their property and jumped out the seat, banging fastly on the door til someone opened it up.

The door opened revealing a devastated Edith; you could easily see she had been crying, as her cheeks were stained red. I instantly wrapped my arms around her and felt her rest her head on my shoulder and felt her tears roll down my shoulder. I walked into the hall seeing Marc, Lea’s father standing there, even he looked emotionally drained. I shook his hand and followed them both as they headed towards their car. I offered to drive them because they both looked in such a state; they gave me Lea’s address.

We arrived where Lea lived and that’s when I saw the flowers surrounding the gates to her LA home, and that’s when I read finally who had passed away. I felt a shy tear slid down my cheek. I walked with Lea’s parents into her home and saw several of the Glee Cast already there and holding hands while they sobbed to themselves on the sofa’s in the lounge area. They’re broken complexions completely summarized the man he was.

I walked away slowly, leaving her parents as they began to speak to the people in the room that came up to them, and crept into Lea’s room. It was the only place I hadn’t been to see if she was there. That’s when I saw her. She looked so weak, fragile. Her body was curled up on the bed with a single blanket around her for warmth. I noticed she held closely to her chest, his favorite jacket that she always wore when he went out of town and she missed his scent around her.

I gently sat on the bed, making the mattress dip down as it adjusted to my body. She didn’t even flinch or move. I pushed my legs onto the bed and gently laid my arm around her and held her tightly. I could gently feel her ribcage moving up and down more as I felt the shudders confirming she was now crying. By the look of her eyes this was one of the many times she had cried in the last few hours.

“I’m not going anywhere Lea, I promise” I snuggled into her back more.
