Chapter 1

Finns P.O.V

"Mom please!" I chase after her. "Don't make me gooooo" I trail off pleading once she stops and turns to face me.

"Finn." She places her hands on my shoulders. "I'm doing this because I love you," she says before turning right back around.

"Right." I say under my breath.

My mom just got a new job. In New York. The central area. I've been here for a good 3 days and I already hate it.

I miss Vancouver.

I miss dad and Nick.

My parents have been divorced since I was 12. But at least they lived within the same country at that time.

Now, the holidays are going to be even more difficult than they were before.

It's now December 24. No disrespect to my mother or her job. But why on earth did we have to move 4 days before Christmas?

I can't see my father or brother this Christmas because of this stupid move.

My mother says it's for my good. With her new and oh so better job, apparently i'll be going to a better school. I can't believe my dad agreed for me to go with her.

But all I wish is to be back in Vancouver,
where I belong.

The absolute worst part of this whole trip is having to make new friends. Letting people in. Which I've always had difficulty with.

"Finn, honey, quit standing around and go get ready." She gestures for me to go upstairs.

I decide it's best not to argue and head up to my room.

Filled with so many unpacked boxes.

Why does she want me to go to this stupid party anyway?

It's a annual party that everyone within the city goes to.

At least that's what my mother says.

She's hoping I'll make friends by going.

I sigh. Hoping something from this party will get me in a better mood.

I've never felt less Christmasy in my life.

Emilie's P.O.V

Today is the day. I'm feeling it. Today's the day I talk to Luke.

I've had the biggest crush on Luke for years, it's about time I try to have a conversation with him.

"Em! HURRY YOUR ASS UP!"

My sister Brooke screaming for me, definitely got me out of my daze. She's a year older than me. And absolutely stunning. She clearly got the good genes.

~Later at the party~

"There's your lover boy." My best friend Maeve points toward Luke.

Oh he's such a beautiful boy.

Taking in the breathless scenery, I'm interrupted by a not so familiar face standing in front of Luke.

"Who's that?" I ask not looking away from the tall, curly head.
