I'm really tired of people saying Wattpad has gone down the drain or whatnot because of all the drama.
So here's a chapter that focuses on mr explaining why this isn't true.
Wattpad is an app for young authors to get noticed, mainly for original works or spinoffs. (Although really, you should go to fanfiction.net if you want to write fanfictions.)
It is not a social media website or a dating app. Is it bad that people treat it like this? No, not necessarily. It's great to make connections, especially with people who have similar interests. The teenage base of this website has kind of become a secondhand Tumblr.
See, it's bad when you make the wrong connections. Steer clear of people who only have bio books in their Works. Stay away from those who have thousands of followers but aren't following anyone.
These people are what I call Toxics. They're abusing the app and using it for quick "fame" and attention, and they're the usual root of drama.
Now, I'm not saying you're an idiot for befriending these people. I'm just saying that if you do, please tread lightly and know what you may be getting yourself into. Not all of these profiles have terrible owners. Just a majority. Also, focus on writing, not socializing. I know, I sound like a teacher. But if you make friends through people who appeared because they liked your books, you're more likely to have deeper and less petty connections with those people.
Lastly, don't create drama yourself. If you have a problem with someone, take it to kik or tumblr or private messaging. And ignore trolls; they'll shrink if you don't give them attention.
Just keep writing and discover other amazing authors! Stay away from Toxics! And as always, thanks for reading ☆

RandomBio book. Just another cliche book about an author who never writes.
