The next day, I woke up an Harry was no longer beside me. I shrugged and got off the bed before padding off to his bathroom where I brushed my teeth with my finger and ran a brush through my hair.

I got changed into my clothes from yesterday and went out to the hallway when I heard shouting from another room.

"Since when did you care about me?!"

I pressed my ear on the door when I heard Niall. He sounded hurt and I felt a pang of pain shoot through my chest.

"Whatever, mum, I have to attend my class,"

Silence filled his room for a moment before I heard a loud bang and I flinched, remembering the times my father threw our furniture around when he was mad or drunk, which was most of the time.

I knocked on the door softly and the bang suddenly stopped.

"Niall?" I asked softly.

The room went quiet after that, I couldn't hear anything and I was beginning to worry.

"What do you want?!" He shouted from his room and his voice sounded so broken that it made my heart drop to my stomach.

"A-- are you okay?" I stuttered.

There was a long pause before Niall answered but with a much calmer voice, "Yeah, I'm fine,"

"Can I come in?" It was obvious that he had family problems and I felt the need to comfort him as I've went through the same thing. It's not right that he has to go through this alone, he needed someone to keep him strong.

"No," he flatly stated and I ignored his comment as I shrugged and entered his room.

It was clean but a few things were thrown to the ground. I found him sitting on his bed, his hair tousled in every direction and his head was rested on his hands.

"Didn't I tell you not to come in?" He mumbled through his hands.

"Yeah, but you should know better," I shrugged, walking over to sit beside him.

"What do you want anyway?" He asked harshly though it didn't affect me in anyway it should.

"I don't know," I shrugged although he couldn't see me, "I guess I just got worried,"

He chuckled lightly, "I don't need your pity,"

"I'm not pitying you, I said I was worried, it's different shit,"

"Whatever,"

We fell into deep silence after that, but it wasn't awkward. It was rather comforting, and I was hoping it did the same to him.

I felt my heart breaking for the man beside me. No one knew how broken he was, no one dared to ask about what happened to him, and no one is beside him during the tough times he's going through.

I had my mum and Harry when he had none and I made a promise to myself that from this moment on, I will be the one to help Niall. No matter how many times he tried to push me, I'd still help him. No one should go through a tough time on their own and Niall was no exception to that.

I stood up in front of him and wrapped my arms around his neck as he wrapped his hands on both sides of my waist to push me lightly.

"Don't," he warned.

I shrugged, "You can say that as many times as you want but remember that I don't take orders from anyone,"

I smiled at him before walking out of his room and to my dorm. I took my shower and got dressed in cleaner clothes.
