Chapter 3
The Class
Cool. That was the best way to describe Miley Skye.
Mandy and Leah stood with the rest of the House E first-year students as their pretty and sweet house captain walked upto them.
"Good morning, ladies," her voice was slightly loud. She looked excited.
A few mornings sounded from the small crowd of first-years.
Miley clapped her hands together and a wide smile spread across her face.
"I'm so excited to have you all join House E. Apparently, there are 16 of you here. Good! Welcome to house purple. We are, in all modesty, the best."
The first-years smiled.
"Our house teachers," Miley continued excitedly, "are Ms. Roberts and Ms. Williams. You'll love both of them. They handle first-years and second-years. They're just amazing!"
She then turned around and walked swiftly and elegantly to the sign which read first-years . Bending down, she picked up a box. She came back to stand in front of the group, pulling out from the box a purple shrugcoat and a beret.
Two girls from the group skipped forward to take it from her. The rest of the girls talked excitedly pointing at the purple clothing.
Mandy turned to see her enthusiasm reflected on Leah's face.
"You wear this everyday, " Miley said, handing out berets and shrugs, "Any one for a day should do. Either the beret or the shrugcoat."
"Do we have to?" A blond whined.
"I'm afraid so!" was Miley's cheerful reply. Mandy put on her beret hat and shrugged on the purple coat. She turned around to see Leah pose as a french painter twirling her imaginary moustache.
She burst out laughing with a few other first-years.
Miley gave Leah a grin. Leah smiled sheepishly back.
"Um... we didn't win best house last year?" A tiny voice asked from somewhere in the sixteen girls.
"No," Miley pouted. "But we will this year!"
The first-years whooped.
Miley motioned for them all to quiet down again. They fell silent.
"Let's go. I'll take you to your class."
She took the steps leading down one of the aisles. The first-years followed. Mandy blinked when they exited the dimly lit assembly hall. The sun shone brightly and the breeze picked up a little.
Leah took her cellphone out of her pocket and snapped a picture of herself and Mandy. Mandy smiled.
"I remember when I was a first-year," Miley said, her dark hair dancing in the breeze," My house captain led the way."
They passed a pool.
"I fell into that pool then." Miley's voice was a smile.
Some of the first-years laughed. Everyone was warming up to Miley.
