Avriel Kaplan: Well dressed, well groomed, beautifully handsome, quiet and brooding and exactly the kind of man Ariel Declan doesn't need to know. But, that is not for her to decide.
Alexander Kirk: wickedly handsome, well known and well liked, egot...

Esther gave Scott a triumphant and smug look before she turned away from the balcony and sauntered over to one of the nearby couches. "And now we wait." Her smile could not be equaled. Scott stood on the balcony and watched Alex as he watched Ariel and Avriel walk away. Although Avriel made it clear, Scott had no way of knowing what his intentions were. He had a strong feeling that Avriel didn't know either. He had claimed Ariel as hands off to the rest of them. He didn't think that Alexander would take too well to that considering that he had been trying to talk to her for months.
The girl was undeniably beautiful and honestly very interesting to watch. There was something elegant in the way she moved, her raven hair and sweet emerald eyes added to the complication of her beauty. Her smile, when given freely was honestly one of the most beautiful smiles he had ever seen. He spent a lot more time watching her then he would ever let anyone know. He didn't think that Avriel would mind knowing, but he was positive that Esther and Alexander would take serious exception. She had a way with liquor and an uncanny way of knowing just what a person wanted or needed to drink. He'd come to the club in the early evening enough to have caught her working and practicing her craft. He made it a habit to watch her work for a while before soliciting a drink from her in hopes that she would make the bottles spin and dance.
Scott had many long conversations with Ariel on the evenings that he stopped by. There were few things that felt as good to him as just talking to Ariel. It was typical for him to do all the talking, but that wasn't a problem for him. He liked listening to himself talk. He also liked listening to Ariel talk. Her voice was smooth and sultry, not too high and not too low. It was just right, and he loved it. The more he thought about it, the more he found that he took exception to Avriel's bold yet subtle move. If anyone, any one of them should have laid claim to the beauty that was Ariel it was him. He had spoken to her the most, watched her, listen to her talk. She always smiled when she saw him. Always. She was a very, very interesting girl. He didn't know what it was about her he enjoyed more, the way she looked, the way she smiled and laughed, the way she spoke or the way she smelled. It was an extremely difficult decision. She smelled just a beautiful as she looked but her smile and her laughter absolutely floored him. When she spoke, she spoke intelligently with kindness and compassion.
He had considered taking her once, just a slow pull once or twice a week, nothing that she couldn't rebuild, but there was just something, maybe a lot of somethings that stopped him. Avriel had just become the biggest one. He wasn't surprised that Avriel had claimed her. He was just surprised that it was Avriel.
Avriel's little look marked her as his, untouchable by anyone but him. He put her under his protection. No one could touch her pull from her or take her without repercussion of his wrath and the very real promise of death. She was Avriel's and his alone to pull from or to take. To break those rules would incur Avriel's wrath. Scott had seen Avriel's anger and power experienced a small taste of it. It wasn't any fun.
He seriously doubted that Avriel would take her. It would be far from wise for him to do that. She would then disappear and that would be noticed, furthermore, it would be noticed that Avriel knew her and it would cast suspicion on him too. Besides, Avriel was soft, all full of kindness and love, patience and understanding. He was the best of them. He had Known Avriel a long time. In all the years of knowing him, he had never known him to take a person. He smiled and turned away from the balcony to join Esther.
And there it was. Just like that. Such a small threat had pulled the boy into action and he made his claim. What a strange group. Very strange. Those dark eyes followed Avriel and Ariel for a few moments before turning their attention to Alexander. They watched his jaw clench in anger and frustration and smiled. Good. Good for the boy.
