Chapter 1 - The Book Without Cover
Beyond the old dusty window of the classroom where the class of seemingly typical students, lies the busy corners of the university where students from different walks of life (meaning courses and year levels--including mental capacity!) interacts to each other.
Chatting. Walking. Some were just buying time spending some good time with folks.
And here was Ryan silent in the corner of the room, questioning again the reason of his existence while focusing on the piece of yellow pad placed on his desk---HIS desk. For no one really sits where he sits.
Ryan is a 5'8 guy with a glass. His eye glass probably made him look like a genius, and he is--in his own right. A boy-next-door with a unique point of view about life, faith and love.
Basically he looks so logical and genius when you ask him about his philosophies in life, bt there are times you'll just realized he's just crazy' especially his opinion about love, dating and relationships. Girls around him considered him as a challenge if they could make this guy believe in love, then they may die the very next day.But not with Nikki, the girl with a nice sporty face and a handful of good sense of humour, she admired Ryan since time immemorial,as old as the pyramids in Egypt. But for Ryan--she's a nice friend. That's all.
"Am i the only one on earth who happened to believe that i have an undiscovered superpowers?"
"Did God really created the planet Earth special,if yes then why did he not placed ring on this planet--just like Saturn? It my look even prettier with ring"
Things were really coming in and out of his brain. Boredom was really a good imagination-stimulator, he guessed.
then came Sam,a lady's man and most of all Ryan's best buddy, to save Ryan from the world of dumb boredom.
"Hey men! What on earth are you thinking?" Sam spoke with a unique accent, like a commedian prepared to crack a joke anytime he received a response.
"Just nonsense" Ryan answered, smiling big like a dog who saw again his master.
"Just waiting for some strange things to happen this day."
"Some days are really meaningless that's the rule of life"
"Yah there are times you'll wake up hopeful that your going to have the greatest day of your life, then go back on bed at night knowing that another day is wasted"
Sam nodded with aggreement,he opened his mouth again trying to find the right word to say,but closed it again just after a second when he realized he can't find the right words in his vocabulary. He wanted to start a conversation about, still, his present relationship but he knew that Ryan dont realy give an ear to love stuff. So he decided to talk out something else, just like the recent movies they watched together.
Then came in Mr.Fil, a nice professor at his early forty's. Unless you noticed the white hairs in the back of his head you will never thought that he isn't that young as you see. As he walked toward the front, the class followed with their eyes and their excitement.
What could be the majic of this history professor?
Maybe because of his father-figure, something that got the interest of his class.
And something that irritates Ryan within his soul.
Mr. Fil opened the book he was holding, the class knew it's now the time for class discussion.
And after three long tiring hours of study and discussion, the bell rung.
The class now stood up, created a noise, a typical scenario when you know the class ended, with no doubt.
Everybody went out, first the vibrant professor, then the class.
Stacy invited Ryan again, to join her to the nearby bookstore. That's the third tme that day that he invited him--and for the third time he said no.
Down the hallway, everybody was just rushing out in the building, suddenly a thought came to his senses. He was not holding the small bag he was holding all day long, his wallet was within the small bag hwe knew it with all his heart. So he decided to take a quick step to go back to the room, he first tried to find Sa,his buddy, but he noticed Sam was just busy chatting to another girl other than his gf.And he seems not interested to helping a friend to get his bag due to ignorance.
So Ryan went alone.
He reached the room in just a couple of minutes.
He opened the door,a just little enough for him to enter. It's just 3pm meaning no need for him to turn on the light for everything was visible.
He grabbed the small bag in his desk, he never doubted that it's really his own ignorance that led him to waste time to go back.He laugh a little, just like a child laughing at his on mistake.
Before he left, something got his attention.
A black book without cover.
It looks as if it was read over and over again, with some pages seems unattached but still not falling of,and at first glance you will see the bookmarks inserted in the pages of the book.
He dont want to get the book at first but the anime series "DEATH NOTE" which he really enjoyed watching taught him to get stuffs left somewhere.
He again smiled he thought it could be the"DEATH NOTE" in real life--then gave in to his curiosity.
and grabbed the book at once.
To be continue . . .
