Chapter One
Lucy
"Guys! Hurry! The ranking list has been posted!" I announced excitingly to them as I walk towards the table they are in. I turn my gaze at Lianne knowing she's eager to know the batch ranking. As soon as Lianne's brain processed the announcement, she hurriedly stood up and walked towards the bulletin board which is in the quadrangle. I waved at Pheobe and Elaine to follow.
The crowd is picking up. Trying to squish in just to see their names. I spotted Lianne trying to get in the way. I pity her looking so desperate to insert into the gathered people to see her name. And I just had an idea.
"Excuse me. Can you give us just a little space for us to have some path?" I ask kindly to the persons in front of me. As soon as they saw and recognized me, they make way. "Thank you." I greeted to them sincerely. I saw Lianne smile at me and mouthed "Thank You." and continue walking to see her name.
In a modest way, we have been popular to East High since we were freshmen. We are kinda adored by most girls and boys. But one consequence of popularity is the list of haters. People who try to put us down because of their stupid insecurities. They actually don't have to be insecure. They just have to love, accept and treasure the things they have than compare it to others and feel so bad about it. Besides, we're not perfect and that's what they have been so wrong about us. Being perfect. No one's perfect and they think we are where in fact we're not. They say we're perfect -minus the haters.
I realize Elaine and Pheobe are right behind me. As I reach Lianne, I lay my hand on her shoulders and tried to see for my self my ranking.
4. Elsa Arthurs
5. Lucy Winters.
6. Jenell Hemmington
I got fifth place! YES! I didn't actually expect it, but its a wrap for the first semester. Next semester, I can try harder and better. Since I've seen my result, I check the other results of my gals.
1. Lianne Kenzi
2. Janine Mathews
3. Elaine Middleton
4. Elsa Arthurs
5. Lucy Winters.
6. Jenell Hemmington
7. Arielle Morris
8. Pheobe Jones
9. Marydeth Leonell
So all of us got into the top ten. Well, Lianne's rank doesn't surprise me. She deserves it and besides, she's in that place ever since. I pat her shoulders and said, "Congrats Li, you did great."
"Not eight." Phoebe blurted out sadly. I patted her back.
"Its not so bad at all. You did great." I smiled and she brightened up. I don't know but they do say there's something in my smile that makes them feel fine. I was flattered when they said it and at the same time, I feel glad that they feel that way.
"Oh well." Elaine commented as if its nothing to her. She deosn't really care if what rank she's in. Though she don't care, she maintain her ranking. Like she's fine with any place but still stays on top. I'm happy for her.
I congratulated all of them and patted them.
"You're not that bad too Luce." Lianne complimented and Phoebe nodds in agreement. I thanked them and we walked to the side to give the other students way to see their ranking. I saw Lianne sighed in relief. She really did her best and I think she's just glad to be in the same spot.
