Does include some mild language and violence.
The island you are born in is a half-animal island, so as a relation they have mixed details of common animals themselves.
The most commons have no differences to what they do, walking in the village to find either: a cat, a dog, a wolf or even a fish.
But being a half-dragon is a very rare, and by that, possibly one out of a million would probably get the result like you would.
Some in your village would say it is a genetic mutation, a disease, or maybe just luck of something big.
But maybe you think to yourself maybe it was a punishment or just something bad is coming your way in your future endeavours.
To, at least, push down your mutations, you did always wear clothing that hid the horns and worn a longer dress to hide your tail. And as well, you did learn the way of martial arts with the help of your father.
Every day, you would train harder to the point you were able to beat your dad with your eyes closed.
That was, until the unfaithful day, the marines decided to give a 'little' visit, though your village thought that it was a friendly visit.
Until they started barging in the village with armour and weapons over the innocent and instructed everyone to follow their rules so no one would get hurt:
Women: stayed at home. Women were treated like second-class mostly.
Men: had jobs to attend to but the jobs influenced by the marines and what they chose.
Children: specific time to do actions/work, right lessons on genders.
To put it blankly, gender equality wasn't good.
And the fact we are all animals made it worse, pulled by ears, stomped on tails, and many other abusive steps.
When the marines had came across your family, your mum let you escape out of the window and had to quickly burn anything that belonged to you, but your father offered you his hat that was big enough to hide the horns if you ever felt self-conscious.
You were then told to go to the neighbours, which was a few seconds run to the other side of the garden you were in, but as soon as you were about to leave the door slammed open.
You heard a few talks and mumbles, but weren't really understandable, suddenly there was an ear-piercing gunshot, then a scream, then another ear-piercing gunshot, then silence.
The grumbles were soon turned with faint steps of metal boots walking out of the door, using enough energy to hoist yourself up into the window.
The scene horrified you:
Two people; that were your own parents, were settled on the floor, with red, crimson blood pooling around them both.
"Mama...Papa..." You stiffened but stepped your way over to them with your shoes covered in your family blood over to the scene that'll never be forgotten no matter what.
Glancing at the dead bodies, you took off your father's hat and placed it closer to your chest as a remembrance.
"Mama, Papa. I promise you, I'll fight to become stronger and defeat the Marines until every scale on my dragon tail is sliced off from the pain I will never forget. From this day on, I'll stay strong for you, both. I love you."
You gently pecked the top of both their heads before placing the hat back on your head in a supportive, brave-hearted way before finding your way to the neighbour's house.
After you had made your way to your neighbour's house, you had to explain everything.
They knew that emotion, so as an option: they decided to adopt you.
Your 'new' father was already a doctor so he just legally filed up some paper documents about you being the new child of the family, but had to make sure the date was old, possibly when you were a child starting your primary school.
Although they were bunnies and you weren't, they questioned why then they were given the papers.
When the marines glanced upon the adoption papers, they accepted.
That was one less thing to worry about.
But yet, they were curious to know why you didn't have any animal features and became suspicious.
Your 'new' younger sister yelled out.
'She hasn't had them because they aren't ready yet.'
"I guess they can change when she goes through her adolescent scene." The captain of the marine grumbled out and left.
After that, you had to thank your new family by working hard for them.
That assured doing this against the rules of the marines, but you were lucky not to get caught.
Years and years went past, you were fully now a young adult but you helped your family every way you could disregarding the second class respect given.
Your horns were getting harder to hide away, so would your tail.
But your 'mum' would give ideas on how to hide it: make your hair a bit more thick and fluffier to hide and make sure you wear a casual dress to hide your scaly tail.
They even taught you good manners but yet you learned how to fight for yourself, like when the old boys and girls used to make fun of you for your characteristics and the fact you don't have your parents with you anymore. You learned to knock them out just by the swift motion of your forearm.
Then, there came a day, where everything had changed everyone because of the bravest people you bestowed upon.
The Straw Hat crew.
Let's just say it was a weird encounter...
As you got your food for helping your adoptive mother with cooking, you wanted to cook your favourite (F/M) tonight. Everything was kept in a straw picnic basket, so no flies could touch it.
As everything was perfect, then a shadow cast over you.
Glancing upward, but yet, placing a hand in front of your eyes to block from the sun.
A wide hat danced with the breeze, to find its way gently down to the pathway you were following back home.
It landed the way a feather does, maybe has the same characteristics to a feather.
So as quick as you can, you rushed over to it and quickly obtained the clothing before it could fly off.
"Where did you come from?" Rhetorically asking the item.
It had beautiful features of what someone would wear in the summer, like right now.
The accessory had layered in a fine, delicate sections of plaited straw on each other as the held perfectly in shape.
A long, silk, ruby red ribbon was wrapped around the brim of the hat.
Yet, the tips had seen to be worn out, maybe someone has had this for a long time.
Perhaps, they are worried, badly, about this.
"I bet someone is searching for you." The right option would be to search around the town to whom this straw hat belongs to.
You placed the hat in your basket, then made your way home.
"Afternoon, (Y/N)." Your adoptive mother called out.
"Is it afternoon already?" Surprised had filled your face. "I only walked in a park."
"You are quite funny, (Y/N)." Even though, you weren't trying to be funny.
"Would you mind if I make dinner for this evening?" Her bunny ears twitched up in joy.
"Of course you can make it, I do love your cooking, honestly, better than your sister's." She had the side of her hand against the corner of her lips that let her words dip around to you.
"How about I help her, maybe she can be as good as me?" Her ears perked up at that.
"I agree but, you, you've got a special talent with your cooking."
"Thank you." Now you need to get back out, "Mum, someone had dropped their hat, can go and search outside to give it back to them?"
"Oh, sure. Go to the marines they know something about the hat."
You nodded in reply.
But in truth, Marines don't do anything when someone has lost something precious, so that's a no for an option.
Getting the straw hat out, you walked out whilst keeping a good grip on the hat.
Who would have this hat in this town?
You glanced around the busy town in front, 'this is going to be a busy day'.
Many people, you questioned but every individual gave a 'no' as an answer.
Maybe the owner has left?
You would make sure that the person would get their hat back.
In a split, a marine fixed a new placard on the wall.
Then you noticed.
You made sure the marine left and waited a few minutes before casually walking up to it.
