There has been tension floating throughout the school since the Hargrove's moved in. Billy's been fighting with Steve for "king" and Will's friends have been dealing with Max and Will is still working through his episodes.
I try to help Aunt Joyce around the house as much as I can. It's been such a relief to leave the house and move in with my family. It feels great to live without worry again. Keeping in the shadows I move through school silently. Sneaking around and keeping secrets have become apart of myself since living in that house. I dunk the ball through the hoop and smile as my team screams with joy.
"Come on Steve. Even she's better than you and she's a girl." I hear Billy egging Steve on and I stop to glare at Billy.
"Leave me out of your pissing contest Hargrove. I'll make baskets around you all night." I saw the coach smile behind Billy. Competitive fire lights in my heart.
"You wanna bet princess?" Billy leaves Steve on the ground and looks at me again.
"How much Hargrove?" I hold the ball to my side with one arm and approach Billy. He walks towards me.
"How about a date?" He smirks and I raise an eyebrow, the girls around gasp then start to whisper among themselves.
"That's it? A single date?" I put a hand on my hip and he looks amused," Three packs of cigarettes..... and two dates." I smirk and Billy thinks it over before nodding.
"Deal." He mutters and we shake before he starts to back up to the court. I follow after him.
"Harrington move your ass. Go find Nancy and fight or whatever you two waste time on." I tell Steve and he scatters. Billy smirks and I look to the coach. I toss him the ball and get ready to jump start. Hargrove looks confused and I motion him over.
Coach throws the ball up and we both jump to get it. I tip it my way barely and take it to the basket making it in the hoop. Billy comes a millisecond behind me. He growls and takes the ball. I chase after him and tip the ball out of his hand before he can shoot. He has no idea how to guard the ball. I bounce the ball under my legs and dunk the ball.
"Still want to play Hargrove?" I whisper holding the ball out to him.
"You bet your ass." He huffs angrily and goes for the ball. He's faster than I thought. The ball is in the hoop as I'm a millisecond behind him.
"Let's add a challenge? Full court." The coach chimes and I take off to the hoop down the gym. Billy chases after me, but I toss and make it. Billy get the rebound, but doesn't guard the ball so I steal the ball and make a three pointer. Billy looks confused, but gets the ball again. I'm right on him as he tries to dunk, but can't get past me. He looks annoyed and throws a Hail Mary at the hoop. He luckily makes it and whoops in excitement. I get the rebound and am half way down the court in an instant. I dunk the ball again and watch Billy look at me with his chest heaving as he stops running down court.
"Okay kids class is over. Billy, (y/n) wins."Coach announces, I smirk and jog out of the gym into the locker room. I change quickly and on my way to lunch I get ripped into another room. Billy has his arm over my head. His shirt slightly unbuttoned as usual with his tight jeans on.
"Where did you learn to play like that?" He asked his voice hardened. That questions burns a hole in my mind. I glare at him and try to move away from him, but he must have seen me move and trapped me with his free hand on my hip.
"That's none of your business. Let me go I'm hungry." I bite back and go to push him away, but he only gets closer to me.
"I don't like people telling what to do." He tells me like I care.
