Reader POV

The sun has yet to rise, but I'm already awake for the day. I had a strange dream. Well the dream wasn't much different from the real life, but the words Iwazumi whispered to me were different. Usually it's just the moans and grunts that bounce off the walls, but in my dream last night he said something to me. It was words I didn't know I wanted Iwazumi to say until he said them.

"I love you Y/n."

My alarm clock finally rings and I shake the thoughts from my head so I can get ready for school. As I brush my teeth I think about how Iwazumi and I's relationship got to this strange point. First it started as a weird conversation that that idiot Oikawa brought up in our first year of high school. I guess some of the guys were talking about doing it with their girlfriends and Oikawa decided to open his mouth to us about it. I chuckle as I remember blushing and choking on the snacks we were eating in his bedroom. Iwazumi threw the volleyball he had in his lap at Oikawa yelling at him to not talk about that stuff so easily.

I guess the idea is around for the rest of the morning because as I eat breakfast, I think about how it then turned into Iwazumi thinking more about it and I guess myself as well. In my eyes I was the first to confess to Iwazumi that I was thinking about it and how I hope that I'm not bad it. Iwazumi was the next one to take it up a level because he was the one to suggest that we help each other practice. We were both so nervous the first time...It makes me laugh now.

Soon it turned into our own type of stress relief, that we would do in private. Like when Iwazumi lost a game or when I got a low grade on a test. We were there for each other in some sense, not just physically of course. We were friends, long before it got physical.

As I slip on my shoes I think about how it went from stress relief to celebratory as well, like when my grades got up or Iwazumi won a game. He started asking me to come to games. The team warmed up to me easily as I knew most of them since we're in the same year or because my brother was friends with them. I slowly became the unofficial-official team manager so there was rarely a moment when Iwazumi and I were apart. Oikawa was always there as well as the rest of the team, but Iwazumi has always watched my back more.

With a knock on my front door I pull on my uniform jacket before bidding good bye to mom and dad. As I open the door, Oikawa is already heading back to where Iwazumi waits at the house gate. I smile to the both of them and follow after Oikawa. Iwazumi meets my eyes and gives me the smile he usually only shows in the privacy of our bedrooms or when we're alone. It's warm and heart stopping. I almost trip over myself, but catch myself on the gate.

"Morning." I greet, trying to act like it didn't phase me. I softly shut the gate behind me. I hold back a shiver as I realize it's colder than I thought it was going to be this morning.

"Morning" My dear friends greet back, almost sounding like zombies. I frown as we start walking to school.

"If you guys keep staying up so late to study volleyball videos, your health with start to decline." I cross my arms to keep my hands warm. They both wave me off with light yawns.

"Don't expect me to take care of you then!" I almost growl. These idiots, making me worry all the time. I guess I'll have to make a grocery stop for soup ingredients tonight so they don't get sick. I keep a smile to myself as I think about what kind of soup to make for them. Their mindless volleyball chatter slips through my head as I think about all of our times together since middle school. My thoughts are interrupted when a volleyball warm up jacket is shoved over my shoulders. I look to see whos it is. Iwazumi's jacket is now sitting over my shoulders.

"Don't lecture us about getting sick when you're the one shivering." He seems to hiss at me. Slipping my arms through I smile, thankful that the cold is making my face cold so Oikawa doesn't see me blushing. Oikawa laughs at me for getting scolded by Iwazumi, but I kick him in the back. He whines that I'm so mean as we walk on to the school grounds. At our lockers I take off Iwazumi's jacket and go to hand it back to him, but he pushes it back into my chest.
