I always hated birthdays. People singing happy birthday hoping to make me enjoy my birthday.

"...Happy birthday dear Ainsley! Happy birthday to you!" Sang my family. They had decided to surprise me and come visit me in LA. Don't get me wrong, it was fine for me, but someone was missing. Or should I say, two people were.
They had decided that we could have a beach party, so about 20 people were just socializing and drinking. I decided I needed some fresh air, and went to walk along the beach. If I had known that I would have see them, I would have flown across the country so we didn't have this party. It took me by surprise, I almost thought I was hallucinating when Grayson yelled my name.
"Ainsley stop! Please, wait up!" I turned around and saw him. My breath was taken away. He was a few inches taller, more mature looking, and his hair was blonde.
"Probably Ethan's fault," I thought aloud. He was about a foot away from me when I said that.
"Are you talking about the hair?" He asked, "it was Ethan's fault, trying to make us look less identical."
From where he was at, I studied his face. His jawline was sharper. His eyebrows portraying sadness. But his eyes were showing his hurt. Seeing me brought back bad memories, and when I saw Ethan running towards us, I knew that he would be even more hurt.
"Um, Ainsley, are you listening?" Grayson had seen me staring at Ethan, and sighed.
"He will always mean more to you won't he?" Grayson asked.
The truth was, he didn't. Both of them had special places in my heart, and seeing them both did not help with forgetting about New Jersey. The cold water lapped at my feet, jolting me awake from my inner thoughts.
"I'm sorry Grayson, I was just lost in my thoughts." I stated, "you and Ethan both have places in my heart, but I can't drive you two apart again."
"What? Ainsley, that's not what I asked, you must have been really deep in thought. I wanted to know why you left and why you-"
Grayson's questions were interrupted by Ethan's shouts. "Ainsley, is it really you?"
Ethan pulled me in to a tight hug, that surprisingly wasn't awkward.
"Um Ethan, you're going to choke her to death if you don't loosen up." Grayson stated (kinda sassily I may add.)
"Sorry, I just missed you..." Ethan said while pulling away.
