Opposites

Chapter 10

Reyna looked up at Keegan's face. "W-w-what?" Reyna stammered. "Reyna. I love you. I've loved you since the day we met." Reyna looked up at him with disbelief. "Reyna. I don't know how to say this. I know you have been through a lot and I should be there for you and I haven't. I've been through my own stuff but Reyna, I want you to know that I am always here for you. I love you, Reyna Johnson. I know I'm the school player but Reyna, it's you. I love you." Reyna had tears streaming down her face. "K-keegan. I-I love you too." 

Reyna turned around to look at Keegan. She put her hands on his face and held them there for a second. Then, she leaned in and kissed Keegan. He kissed back. After a minute, Reyna pulled away and put her head on Keegan's chest. "Sorry," she muttered. Keegan stroked her hair. "Don't be, love. It was perfect." "Keegan. I want to be with you. I really do. But, I'm scared." "Scared of what?" "Scared to trust, scared of getting hurt, scared to love." 

Keegan sat up and looked at Reyna. "Reyna Elizabeth Johnson. I love you more than I love myself. We are young and I can't promise forever. I have no clue what the future holds. I can promise you this though. I will never leave you like the others did. I will never hurt you like the others did. No matter what happens in the future, I will always love you. If for some reason we end, it will not be because I don't love you or because I want to hurt you. Matter of fact, it won't be because of you at all. Reyna, I don't expect you to answer now or even say yes but will you be my girlfriend?" Reyna had tears streaming down her face. 

"Does this answer your question?" Reyna grabbed Keegan's face and kissed him passionately. After she pulled away, Keegan nodded and kissed Reyna. 

After they both pulled away, Keegan said, "Reyna. It's not going to be easy and I know that. But, it's me and you against the world and I am confident we got this." Now both were crying but through the tears, they both smiled. Reyna put her head back on Keegan's chest and fell asleep. 

Reyna woke up the next morning in her bed. She had three blankets over top of her. She got out of bed and went to her closet. She grabbed a blue long sleeved dress and black heels. Reyna put on the dress, brushed her hair and teeth and did her makeup. After an hour and a half, Reyna went downstairs with her shoes and put some eggo waffles in the toaster. She checked the time. It was 7:30. She had a half hour until day 2 of the trial. She finished her breakfast, made oatmeal for Jordan and pulled on her shoes. Jordan, running late as usual, ran down the stairs, grabbed the container of oatmeal and a plastic spoon and pulled on his shoes as well. Their mom was already at the courthouse taking care of divorce papers. Reyna and Jordan ran out the door and Jordan drove them both to the courthouse. 

It was a long day. It took 5 hours for the final ruling. It was announced the jury finally made a decision at 1:15. Jordan and Reyna braced themselves for whatever was to come. "The jury has decided that the defendant is guilty. Further punishment will be discussed." Reyna and Jordan looked at each other and started crying.

At 1:30 it was decided on how much jail time Reyna and Jordan's dad would face.
