(twilight inspired)
flickering lights.
the Christmas lights flickered around the gazebo and on the trees. the night sky twinkled with stars and the misty clouds floated across the sky. the music boomed from the gym room and there were sweaty bodies dancing with and against each other.
she didn't pay attention to her friends that said he was bad news. she didn't listen to the preposterous rumors that indicated he was a mythical creature that was just that... mythical.
he guided her down the lit path slowly, and delicately held her hand. his hand was twice her size and could devour it whole but she didn't mind. her whole body shook with excitement and she looked at the man in front of her. his brown hair cascaded down his neck and the suit he was wearing made him look... ravishing.
all she could think of was ripping it off of him.
her eyes looked up and saw he had let go. he stood at the edge and folded his hands behind his back. he stared at nothing in particular but he didn't care.
her hands fell to her side and the heels on her feet were thrown to the side as well. she didn't move though. her eyes just trailed down his body and back up. he was so fucking handsome, how did he do it?
"are you just going to stand there, or are you going to come up here?" he spoke softly but it thumped in her ears. her hands lightly shook from the overwhelming feeling of his presence and nervousness tumbling through her stomach. she didn't move, she couldn't exactly move due to the paralyzed state she was in.
a swift movement and he was in front of her, holding her trembling hands. the soft and warming feeling of his in hers was... comforting in a way. his silky white skin made her feel safe and the glow from his eyes made her feel secure.
he guided her towards the middle of the gazebo, the lights flashing in her eyes. he looked beautiful in the light and she couldn't help but know that she wanted him in her life.
"you know i'm dangerous liza. i can't stay here." she nodded, not caring about that in the moment.
"i don't care if you leave tomorrow, make this moment unforgettable." she said simply and she saw the realization in his eyes.
he took her hands, soft and small compared to his large and slightly cut up ones due to hunting into his own. she didn't seem to mind at all.
they swayed gently to the music that surrounded the place, coming from somewhere unknown. she wanted him to kiss her, so badly. but he didn't. he wouldn't. he couldn't. they stared at each other, not speaking a word. she wasn't aware but she was falling.
and she was falling hard.
the night lasted longer than the other asked for, but neither of them minded much. they, at least she, wanted it to last forever.
but forever can be crushed in a single moment.
her friends came looking for her, saying that they were tired and wanted to leave. she hated saying goodbye. she hated goodbyes in general. but this wasn't a goodbye, it was a simple,
"see you tomorrow."
she expected to see him tomorrow. she wanted to see his face, shining in the cheap light the school provided. she wanted to touch his hands once more, the sizes unimaginably different. she wanted to look so deep in his eyes that the air would be knocked from her lungs and her legs would give out from under her.
she wanted to see him so badly, she craved him. but not in a sexual way, it was a craving of touch. a craving of just being in his presence: being in the same room, the same hallway, the same space. she wanted to be with him.
she wanted to see him tomorrow.
he wouldn't be there tomorrow.
