Camila's POV
Taking these long, painful flights to New York for one weekend a month seemed so exhausting. Harder to do now that I was back with Lauren, having to leave my warm bed where she accompanied me every so often now. She was so cute and cuddly I didn't ever want to leave her. Especially when we'd have Sofi join us and just play with her all morning. Ughhh, I missed it already.
But I had to focus on work right now. Although I was Chief Designer of Cabello, I still knew we were growing like weeds in all of our industries. In the fashion, hotel, residency, winery, furniture, and country club industries to be more specific. Potentially even yacht club too since Giorgio II was talking about that during our latest phone call. He loved his twenty something yachts.
"Camila!" Emilia greeted me in her precious accent after her butler answered the door to the estate I once lived in.
"Emi! How are you?!"
"Great! Thank you for coming!" we kissed both of each other's cheeks before she walked me through the marble home with her Ashera kitten in hand.
"This little guy new?" I petted the soft leopard fur.
"Yes, this is Romeo. He's cute, no?" she smiled when we got outside to the table already set for lunch.
"Adorable. You know, I've been thinking about getting a kitty myself," I giggled.
"Really? I can hook you up with the guy who sold him to me," she offered. "Ashera cats are one of the most rare hybrid breeds, but only about a hundred thousand US dollars," she said like no big deal.
"Hundred thousand for a cat?" I looked unsure about if I wanted to pay for that although others would assume that kind of money was chump change to me. I could just get a cute little siamese and call it a day. But this would be a pet my children and I would take care of and love. Why not get something a bit more valuable?
"I thought it was worth it. I am not a dog person," she shrugged, handing the kitten to the butler so she could start eating.
"I do like dogs but I wouldn't have time to train one. Not like Lauren does but she already has her hands full with Bubba," I paused for a moment before digging into the Linguine with lobster.
"Oh that's right, you are back together with her?" she asked since she knew about that drama from a while back. I confided with her during my dark, mourning phase and luckily she understood. I needed at least one other Cabello to know the mess I was going through.
"Yes, I am," I grinned brightly with a flutter in my tummy every time I even thought about my girlfriend.
"Aww, you must bring her to the wedding!" she exclaimed encouragingly.
"Lauren and I at your wedding?" I frowned since I was pretty worried myself about going to Emilia's wedding already. I was going to have to face all of her family for the first time since Giorgio's funeral.
"Yes, you need a date if you're not bringing the kids," she nodded which was true. It'd be weird going alone. And I would bring the kids but it was literally on the Monday before their first day of school.
"Yeah, you're right. What do you think your mom and dad will say though?" I winced.
"They don't know what went on between you two nor do they have to know. Or about Sofia," she remarked.
