Jeremy woke up alone. In the middle of the night he had gotten too hot and pulled off the squip's shirt, and when he opened his eyes he was holding it against his face.

Jeremy had spent the night fitfully, tossing and turning. He'd awoken in the early morning and  had another fit of tears. Today was a latter day though, and the sunshine was bright in the window. He grasped blindly for his phone on his nightstand and pulled it to his face.

'Hey, you busy today? My parents wont be around'

It was from Michael. Jeremy smiled to himself and thought about the day of lazing around in front of him and found himself excited. With the squip being so active in his everyday life nowadays he hadn't given his best friend the attention he deserved. He really hadn't been giving anyone the time they really required when he truly thought about it. Jeremy tried to remember the last few days and found that he really hadn't been active outside of his mind. The hours spent bickering with the computer was fun and he thought of the conversations fondly but how much time had he wasted by sitting and talking with himself? Sitting on the end of his bed thinking thoughts at a hologram, that was his life now. He blushed a little in embarrassment, imagining what he'd think if he saw himself a few days ago. Some loser sitting in silence to the unaware eye.

Jeremy sighed, and threw the covers back while stealing a glance at his electric alarm clock sitting on his dresser.

9:30, a decent time for a junior in high school, more specifically a junior boy who spent his night unable to sleep. With both feet solidly standing on the cold wood of his floorboards he paused, readying himself for the day ahead.

With a quick breath he stood up and stretched, feeling his back pop into place. He walked over to his closet and flipped through a few t shirts, a few collared shirts, and a couple of lonely band shirts that only put dark clouds over his heart.

The thing about Jeremy was that at his very core he was a sweetheart. He was kind, and though he sometimes was blind and rude he always operated under good intentions. That was pure human Jeremy though, with the squip Jeremy was inconsiderate and plainly said mean. After the squipcident the teen healed. Not only physically but from the emotional damage he'd doled out. Especially to Michael, Brooke, and Christine. It hit him hard but he crawled through the pain because reasoned it wasn't his fault. He'd only done what the computer had told him to, had only followed orders. But last night, it was pure Jeremy. They were such ugly words, such ugly feelings. He spent a moment thinking about when he'd gotten so bad, bad enough to voice such malice.

Jeremy shook it off, resolving to think of it more later. There was no point in bringing his mood down now. Not when he had the rest of his day to play video games. Michael was probably going to bring out his jar of weed to, so it was truly to be a lazy day.

Instead of pawing through his collection of nice shirts he'd gotten under the squip's advice, he chose a big sweatshirt. It was probably his father's at one point. The stitching on the front had come loose, at one point it might've said basketball? But now it was just green and orange fabric, threadbare and pilling up but warm and though hard to believe, still soft. He decided against wearing a shirt under it, if he needed anything he could always borrow something of Michael's. Then he threw on a pair of black skinny jeans, which were the only type of jeans he had.

After shooting his dad a quick text and grabbing a cup of coffee full of hazelnut creamer he started off, deciding to walk. The weather was nice for a change, too often in New Jersey it was biting cold, the wind would nip underneath your winter coat in a few minutes, but today the snow seemed to be content in a state of melting. There was a slight breeze that carried a hint of warmer weather which was strange, it being the end of December. The snow wet the ground, it had melted from the sidewalks so the journey was really quite pleasant. The temperature was lovely too, Jeremy barely felt the cold through the thicc sweatshirt he donned.
