5:00 p.m.
I look out the window while he drives like I did before. The piers come into sight about ten minutes later. I can see the bay, all of the boats, and even some sea lions. He parks infront Pier 33 and gets out of the car.
He comes over to the passenger side of the car and I get out of the car. As soon as I stand up I start feeling extremely dizzy. I almost fall, but Jason catches me. "Whoa, there. Are you okay," he asks. "Yeah, I just got kinda dizzy. I must've stood up too fast," I tell him. "Okay," he says.
I stand up again and we start walking into the building, but he keeps an around my waist. "Jason, I'm okay now," I say. "I know, it's just in case you get another dizzy spell," he says," And I saw a few guys look at you when we walked in, so yeah."
I giggle because he's cute when he's like this. "So why are we here anyways," I ask. "We're going on the ferry ride around Alcatraz Island," he says," The only problem is that we have to stay in the terminal for thirty minutes until it's time to go." "It's okay. I don't mind waiting with you," I say.
He smiles and pulls me closer. We go over to the guy checking the tickets and he stamps our's, then we sit on one of the benches to wait. "I'll be right back," Jason says after a few minutes. "Okay. I'll wait here," I say. He nods and gets up.
My eyes follow him until he gets lost in the sea of people. I think about everything that's happened so far and smile to myself. It's been the best last day I could possibly ask for so far.
Because I was spacing out, I didn't realize that someone sat down next to me. I turn to them, expecting to see Jason, but it's not. It's some random dude. "Hey there," he says. "Umm, care to explain why you're here," I ask. "I saw you come in and wanted to talk," he says.
"If you saw me, then you probably saw the guy I was with too. We're on a date," I say. "Then where's he at now," the guy asks. "He's-" I'm cut off by the voice of my bestfriend. "Jaelyn," he calls.
I look over at him and he walks over. He places his arm around my shoulders and I sigh in relief. "I'm so glad you're back," I whisper to him. He smiles at me, then looks at the guy and glares.
"You're with him," the stranger asks. "Yeah, she is. Wanna tell me why you're messing with my girl," Jason asks. "Was I talking to you," the other guy asks, then looks at me. "Yes, I am with him. You can go ahead and answer his question now. Or just leave," I say.
The guy puts his hands up in surrender and leaves. Jason takes the seat next to me when the guy leaves and wraps his arm around my waist again. "You okay," I ask. "Yep. But if he bothers you again, you'll want to ask him that," he says.
I laugh and lay my head on his shoulder. "You're cute when you're jealous," I say, slightly mimicking what he said earlier. "Aww, you think I'm cute," he asks. "Sometimes," I answer. He pouts and I smile. "I'm kidding. Of course you're cute," I tell him and he smiles.
~~ About fifteen minutes later ~~
"It's time to go, princess," Jason says and we get up to board the ferry. He gets on the boat, then helps me onto it. "I can do it myself, you know," I say. "I know, but I like helping you," he says. "Well, thank you," I say. "You're welcome," he says.
We stand by the rails of the boat and it soon leaves the port. I stick my hand out over the rail and let the spray of water wet my hand a bit while the wind blows through my hair. Soon I spot some sea lions swimming alongside the boat as we near the island.
"Jason, look at the sea lions," I say and point to them for a moment with a smile on my face. Although I point out the sea lions, I can still feel his eyes on me, so I turn to look at him again. "What," I ask.
He just smiles and looks at me like I'm a work of art. "Don't look at me like that," I tell him. "I can't help it. I like to look at beautiful things," he says. I look at him for a minute before turning away. "Don't do that," I say quietly.
He doesn't say anything back, instead he just hugs me. "You're beautiful," he says," I've always told you that and I always will because it's true." I don't respond and he sighs a little. "Can you hug me back, please," he asks.
I turn and look up at him. He mouths a please and I can't hold back a small smile. I hug him back and lay my head on his chest. I wish I could just stay like this with him forever, being safe and warm and happy. But I know I can't. For the rest of the boat ride, he leans against the rails while holding me and I just hug him back.
