I bolted up, a big mistake. My whole body was aching causing me to fall back onto the unknown bed I was on. It felt like every cell in my being was being punched over and over again. I sobbed out in pain, my finger gripping what felt like bed sheets.
"Alek she's up" I heard a woman's alert voice call out. I looked over trying to pinpoint where she was at. It was then that I noticed I wasn't in a bedroom. The bed I was on was in the middle of what looks like a lab. Just as I caught of glimpse of the lady my vision began to blur. "Elisa she's going to be in an out of consciousness for the next few days. So let's just let her rest, we can move her into one of the rooms tonight once I'm done collecting blood samples from her." A man's deep voice said.
I could hear heavy footsteps coming closer to me but I was too tired so sit back up. Too tired. So sleepy. What is going on? Where's my dad? Dad. I tried to call out for him but I'm not sure if I said it or not. It was dark again but I couldn't tell if seconds or hours were passing by. Were my eyes closed? I'm so confused..
"I put her on an IV for parental nutrition since it's been two days already since she last showed signs of consciousness" the man's voice from before rung in my ear but it didn't feel like he was close. It was still so dark and I'm still so sleepy. "Alek are you sure she's okay?" The same woman from earlier spoke with a concerned tone.
I wanted to open my eyes and look at them. Ask them what's going on, where's my dad. But I was so drained. My body still hurt but not as bad as before. "Don't worry love, her vitals are perfectly fine. She's just resting up. Let's her do that because when she wakes up her world will no longer be the same" I heard a sigh before I felt a hand brush against my cheek. What did he mean? My mind started to become hazy again. So sleepy.
"Dad can you close the curtains, it's so bright," I said with my groggy voice. I tried to lift my arm up to cover my face with the annoying light shining on me but I felt a light tug and a sharp pain in my arm. "Ow, what the heck..." I groaned out as I slowly sat myself up minding my arm. My eyes opening slowly for the first time.
"Alek!" A familiar woman's voice called, I could hear running but it wasn't coming towards me. My eyes began to adjust and confusion painted my face as I looked to see an IV in my arm connected to a drip that was hanging on the wooden headboard of the unfamiliar bed I was on.
Panic began to settle over my body and a beeping sound that I just now noticed, began to pick up. I looked around with wide alert eyes, now seeing that I was attached to all sorts of machines. The sound picked up as I noticed a man standing at one of the doors I'm the room, a woman with honey blonde hair and dark brown eyes behind him watching me intently.
"Hello, Fawn. I know you're scared and really confused but I want you to know that you're safe and we have no intention of hurting you" the man said. My eyes focused on him. He looked liked he was 6 feet tall or maybe that was just because the girl next to him was short. He had light brown curly hair that was up in a messy bun and dark ebony colored skin with light green eyes contrasting it. But that's not what caught my attention about him. He was wearing a white lab coat and for some reason, that alone was enough to make me wary of him.
I scooted back on the bed away from them as I stared, my eyes never leaving them. "Where's my dad?" I asked. Did something happen? He would never leave me alone in a situation like this. My brow narrowed as I watched the two of them look at each other warily. "Fawn. Let's first get you off the machines and the IV drip, then we can answer any questions you have" the woman spoke up as she took a small step towards me.
I stiffened at the step, my fingers gripping the covers as my back was pressed up again the headboard tightly. I think she noticed because she instantly went back to the man's side with her hands up in an unthreatening sign.
