AN: I know the quote is a bit mushy but you're reading a romance story so don't scorn. Also thank you so much to my beautiful commenters who make me feel so inspired and happy.

"Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense."

When sense re-entered Scarlet she realised it was of course Draco whispering in her ear. "WHAT?" Scarlett said in a hushed shout her eyes wide as she turned to face him. "I said you're my partner" Draco had an evilly smug smirk on his face, "I bet you're wishing you could re-do that train trip right now" he said seemingly very satisfied with himself.

Scarlet felt a convulsion of confusion, annoyance, anger and fear. The colour in her skin seemed to melt from her face and left nothing but a white palate in it's place. This influx of emotion was possibly what stopped her from rationally thinking long enough to realise that she could have just said no and asked for another partner. However despite this and in favour of her obstinate nature she kept her head up.

"I don't regret anything Malfoy, you were being cruel to poor Neville" Draco let out a loud laugh. "POOR NEVILLE" he barked. Scarlet didn't think this seemed a funny thing to say at all. She glared at him and then looked around the classroom to see what the others were doing hearing their separate mutters of conversation and shuffling of shoes.

It seemed they were practicing the Confundus spell, a spell that causes confusion in a person or bewitches an object. Her lack of attention in class was probably one of the qualities that assured her no place in Ravenclaw house. Scarlet didn't particularly want to be hit with a confundus spell but it didn't seem that bad, after all she always felt pretty confused when she was around Draco Malfoy so there wouldn't be that much difference. She however did not feel assured that Draco would necessarily stick to the class curriculum.

Draco was feeling a little sick or at least off his game, no that wasn't it, he wasn't even sure it was a bad thing, maybe excitement of his soon to be revenge on Blackwood, no, well actually he wasn't quite sure what it was exactly but it seemed to be being aggravated by Scarlet's presence.

Draco had planned to use the Densaugeo spell he'd learned over the summer that enlarged teeth and took quite a while to heal, or possibly even risk trying the Furnunculus spell which makes boils appear on your opponent. He was yet to try this spell but had seen an older student use it on a Hufflepuff the other day. That would completely mortify her and in doing so make her regret her actions against him.

It was a great revenge, her pretty little face was distracting and annoying and he would feel happy to mess with it a bit. He would try to pass it off as an understandable mistake to the teacher, after all it was only his second day here, but once they got to practicing Draco found he just couldn't do it.

Draco let a little carving of a thought pass that perhaps he didn't want to mess around with her beauty after all, but he quickly dismissed the thought and buried down even deeper the thought that he didn't want to embarrass her. After some internal battling Draco decided he could use the Locomotor Mortis spell, a simple leg-locking spell. It wasn't mildly satisfying but he felt he had to do something.

The professor didn't even spare a glance as Scarlet lightly hit the ground and quickly got up again with a small possibility of a bruise arising later. Draco smirked at Scarlett; feigning joy over winning their little duel but he knew as well as she did that it wasn't that much of a pay back. Scarlett wasn't exactly sure but she hoped that that was enough for Draco to leave her alone, and if they were in fact now on even grounds that maybe she could begin to feel comfortable in her common room from now on.
