Chapter 16
"Belle...it's not what you're thinking," I warn her ahead of time, sending Grayson a look to run in the opposite direction, but he instead stays put, as if he was asking for trouble.
"Not what I think huh—" She starts, taking a deep breath. I can see Tony with his arms around her waist, trying to hold her back.
It was weird like this. We had a sister like relationship but the moment she lied to me about her little hookup, we drifted. I, all of a sudden, didn't see the need to inform her of everything just like she decided. But, we still confided most of our lives.
We were close best friends but as soon as Tony entered the mix, the dynamic drifted. She wasn't a shitty best friend but more or so, I couldn't help but be a bit bothered every time and everything we did together ended up with Tony or the mention of him. It was like it used to be just us but now it was just us and Tony which was something that happened without me being consulted.
"Mae, is everything okay?" Grayson asked, trying to ask as innocent as he could; being one of the hottest guys at our school that is, "You're Belle right?"
"Shit, nicknames too Lana?" Tony asked. I winced at the way he said it, also as if he decided 'oh fuck her' and sided with Belle to beat the shit out of me for being with a guy.
"What the hell Lana. I leave you alone for like 4 hours and you've started messing with someone? Especially this fuckboy?" She points out, side glaring Grayson in the process, "I thought you weren't going to-"
"Gray isn't that bad." I try to defend, though I have yet to realize that I knew little about him.
"Oh, I'm sorry Gray—" Belle hissed sarcastically, "I'm used to finding out about shit before she decides to do something stupid, like you."
I could feel Gray tense up at her harsh words. It wasn't something I wasn't used to, but I knew it was something Grayson wasn't. He was too busy being the school's mischief golden boy to receive hate.
"You mean like when you decided to sleep together and make your relationship official and I had to find out from him? I argued back, "Oh please, give me a fucking break. You're not my mom Belle."
"You're just so ugh—" Belle glared, "Your mom would be disappointed to be seeing you with him."
With that, she stormed off with Tony, visibly arguing about the topic brought up. I, who couldn't bother to chase after her, headed in the opposite direction to one of the roller coasters, pulling Grayson's hand with mine.
I could see the two arguing about something out of the corner of my eye but at this point, I couldn't care less. I had so much more to say but I didn't, she could deal.
After letting me pull him into the next line, Grayson was stood there awkwardly, not knowing whether to say anything and I quickly let go.
"Sorry about that, we came here to have fun and it turned into a dramatic shitstorm. For now, let's forget about it and go on some rides?" I offered with a meek smile and a shoulder shrug, pointing at the roller coaster, "I'm not really in the mood to explain and it's a long story."
"For what it's worth, you seem to have a point as to why you're mad. Thank you for standing up for me." He smiled before muttering, "You really are something."
"You are something." He mumbles before grabbing my hand, tightly and pulling me to a ride.
The Gold Striker.
"This one?" He asked. "You sure? It's okay if you got into line accidentally. It has pretty gruesome drops."
I shook my head and bounced up and down, "I love this ride! Who doesn't?"
