Silence.
In the darkness I hear
your footsteps down the riverbend, see
your footprints on the wet soil
beside me.
The water, a shimmering black curtain
of memories, you step in.
The icy water laps your ankles, I feel
shivers
Down my arms.
The wind softly whispers
illicit nothings into my waiting ear but
your laugh drowns those words,
you turn.
You face me, your eyes- sparkling in
the moonlit haze, you beg me-
to come with you, into the river, I
follow.
