Before The Rain

I woke up early that morning on the bottom bunk of the bunk bed that me and my sister share.

Today was our 18th birthday Kenzie and I are twins she's taller than me somehow though. Our dad's Hispanic and out mom is black.

I'm darker than Kenzie though plus I'm a nerd and she's more of a talkative person but we both can't stay off of Snapchat and Instagram. 

I got out of bed grabbing my IPhone going into the bedroom taking a picture in the mirror posting streaks on Snapchat.I have  15k followers on Instagram and I get over 20k views on my snaps a day.

I took a shower and got dressed putting on a shirt I got from the mall.

I walked out of the bathroom climbing the ladder to the top bunk "Wake Up" I said shaking her.

She threw a pillow at me and that's when the doorbell rung so I ran downstairs thinking it was my Kendrick Lamar poster that I bought off of Amazon.

I opened the door and saw a strange book with the word "Magic" entitled on it and when I picked it up it shocked me.

That's when my vision started and it was like my body was transported to a completely different place.

"Somebody needs to watch over him" said a man sitting on a throne angry. "He's the only other person who can secure the throne and I know that converting human into gods isn't safe the two sisters are the perfect test subjects" he said. "I'll send the spirits now" he said looking at me winking.

The vision ended and I closed the door walking back into the room. That's when two massive orbs of what seemed to be energy burst through the door . "Kenzie get down" I yelled to her screaming. One of the orbs hit Kenzie and she became unconscious. "No" I screamed as the other orb of energy tried to reach me.

It's sped toward me and I kicked off the wall flipping over it. I threw my alarm clock at the window shattering the glass. I jumped out of the window and started running down the street but the orb grew closer. I screamed for help but the orb hit knocking me out.

I woke up in a hospital bed wearing a hospital gown with Kenzie across from me. "Issa Kydder right?" said the nurse entering the room. "Yes Ma'am" I said looking for my phone as police officers entered the room. "Do you know what happened to you?" asked a officer.

"Umm no not really" I said realizing that nobody would believe what actually happened to me. That's when Kenzie woke up gasping for air and the lights started flickering. "Issa what happened" said Kenzie's voice in my head.

I stared at Kenzie and tried to respond thinking " I went to the front door after walking you up and saw this book that said magic on it and had this vision of this guy talking about converting humans into gods" I responded.

I watched as Kenzie blinked and the lights flickered as she blinked and everyone stared at her. "We need to get out of here" she said telepathically  and then I noticed the book at the side of my eye.

"The book was on your doorstep we figured you dropped it" said the doctor handing it to me.

"Write a spell in the book" said Kenzie telepathically being goofy.

"Strom vendrá seguro" I wrote in the book using a nearby pen.

That's when the text in the book started glowing and Kenzie turned the lights keeping her eyes closed.

The room was pitch black and I chanted the supposed spell which meant "Storms will come for sure" in English.

The room stayed pitch black and then I heard thunder rumbling outside. That's when a pink yes a pink lighting bolt struck the building causing a shockwave to knock the doctors back. I unattached all the cords that were connected to my body and helped Kenzie get her's off.

We ran through the hospital when a group of guards tried to grab Kenzie and she closed her eyes drawing light from the area around her. She released the energy of the group of guards knocking all of them out.

The two of us ran out of the hospital and called a Uber to go back home. We pulled up to the house seeing the police there asking the Uber driver to take us to a local restaurant. We entered the restaurant and Kenzie used her debit card to order us some appetizers.

"What happened back there?" I asked her.

"I don't know but, I think the orbs that attacked us gave us powers" she responded.
"The guy in my vision talked about converting humans to gods and I'm pretty sure he was talking about us because he said sisters" I said.

That's when Kenzie picked up a knife and stabbed herself in the leg which left a stab wound but instantly healed. That's when the news came on about what we did at the hospital and the newscaster exclaimed "It's photoshop" when looking at a photo of the pink lightning.

I hugged Kenzie glad that we were going through this together.

"Listen" I said talking to Kenizie when a police officers radio from across the restaurant said something about a robbery a few blocks from where we were at.

"Kenzie come on it's a perfect time to test out our powers" I said grabbing her pulling her out of the restaurant.

Kenzie ran down the street getting down a whole block in less than 5 seconds and I followed after her. "Advanced speed" I said telepathically to Kenzie who was still running.

I caught up to her and we saw what was happening and I pulled out the book and pen from the hospital.

"chispas mágicas" I wrote in the book which meant magic spark in english.

The robbers were stealing from the counter attacking the cashier.

"Kenzie get the lights" I said telepathy and then running into the now pitch black store.

I chanted "chispas mágicas" realizing a sphere of pink energy from my palm throwing the robbers back.

Kenzie used her powers to blind temporarily the robbers angrily after one of them punched her.

The cops came and the two of us ran out of there faster than The Flash himself.

We returned home to see the cops gone and our parents happy to see us.

We went up to our room and talked for ours on making superhero costumes and being superheroes defending people.

"Good Night" said Kenzie sometime around 2 A.M and drifted asleep.
