Luke wanted to tell Jess that he just began living here and was going on tour with his bandmates and was also recording music. He wanted to tell her that he dropped out of school and missed his family. Luke wanted to tell Jess that he wrote songs and played them to crowds of screaming girls. He knew, however, that telling Jess the truth could cause drama. He replied eventually, playing it safe.

Luke didn't know what Jess would do if she found out who he really was,  so he had to pretend to be a normal seventeen-year-old kid from Los Angeles. A normal kid who worked at KFC and went to school, who played videogames with his friends and dated girls. Surely that would be easy, right?
