Emmy stands in the mirror on the back of her bedroom door and applies the finishing touches to her makeup. After last nights adventures, she decides it is better to lay low tonight rather than to go out and release some more havoc on this town. She has a nice low-key night planned.
A good friend of hers set her up on a blind date for this evening. She says he is the perfect match for Emmy. Emmy highly doubts it but thinks it is worth a try. After all, she does get a free dinner and drinks out of it regardless of if it goes well or not.
Her on-again-off-again boyfriend is in a new gang now and she never gets to see him anymore. They broke up twice last month because of it. She doesn't mind that he is in a gang. It's the fact that she never sees him that made the decision final, for now.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, her date for the night waves and says his goodbyes to everyone at the office. They all make fun of him for dressing so fancy after changing out of his uniform. He brushes their jokes off his shoulder and smiles on the way down to the parking garage from the elevator.
He enters his car and drives right to the chosen restaurant. He doesn't want to be late. That was create a horrible first impression for this girl.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, he is seated and served drinks as he waits for his date to arrive. He stands in anticipation as the host shows her to her table.
He is immediately taken back by her incredible beauty as she walks over to him.
"Hi I'm Chad." He says as he holds his hand out for her to shake.
"Emmy." She smiles as he tells her she is stunning. She isn't used to this kind of treatment.
The pair take a seat and strike up a conversation across the table.
Chad is immediately positive he has just found the one. He never believed in love at first sight until right now when she walked over to him. He has already fallen in love with her and she has only said one word to him so far.
"So how do you know Sasha?" He asks about the mutual friend who set them up on this date tonight.
"Oh um. Our families go way back. Long story short, our dads worked together back in the day. We became close because they were close. That was, oh I don't know, maybe 15 years ago now." She smiles, trying to keep the information about her personal live as vague as she can.
She is not sure about this guy yet. He seems nice but then again, everyone has secrets. Though she already has a feeling that he is very different from her past boyfriends, she is not sure if it is a good different or not.
"No kidding? I work with her. She's great." Chad laughs at the small world. Both of their stories with Sasha involve work .
"Do you have any hobbies?" She asks taking a sip of her wine.
"Not really. I love doing just about everything. Though when I'm not at work I'm usually at home playing with my dog. He's the cutest little thing too. Gosh, I love him so much." She nods as she learns more about him. She loves dogs too. She thinks he is obviously a good person if he has a dog. All dog owners are great people. Especially when they beam about their dog as if it is their child.
"Do you have any hobbies?" He asks. She shakes her head. She doesn't think that telling him that she enjoys setting fires and engaging in other illegal things would go very well for a first date.
"Nope."
"Okay. How about pets? Do you have any pets?" He asks a different question, understanding that she may have had a problem answering the first one.
"I have a brother. Does that count?" She smiles as he laughs at her joke. His laugh is infectious and causes her to laugh too.
Emmy leans forward on the table as their laughter continues. The chemistry between the two of them is immediate and lasting. Emmy has not felt this kind of connection with someone in a long time.
"You are really funny Emmy. I can see why Sasha likes you so much. You are quite the catch." Chad says as he finishes laughing.
"My mom always told me I was her own special award. She says that is what inspired my name but who knows about that." She shrugs and leans over the table to be closer to him.
"Oh I get it. You are named after the award shows. That's fantastic. You really are an award though. I can see what she means. You are like a prize. But not in the trophy wife kind of a way that is insulting. More of a 'wow I'm speechless how could the universe have picked me to win this special lady' kind of a way.
Emmy smiles and stands up. "Stand up. Come on." She flashes her teeth and watches as he stands slowly, unsure of what she is doing.
"Why are we standing?" He asks with a slight laughter at the end.
"Because I can't do this sitting across from you." She grabs his face and kisses his cheek softly. Though it was only a peck, instant sparks fly in both of their heads, just like in the movies.
