6 months later
Danny’s POV
Amy and I had been going out for 6 months! She’s my baby girl, she hasn’t forgotten about that night in the club, but she forgave me ages ago. 26th November, our 6 month anniversary! I woke up at 8 and got in the shower, dressing and sorting out my hair. I pinned a red tulip to my shirt and got in the car, driving to Amy’s. When I pulled up on her driveway, I could see her standing in her room, wrapped in a towel. All I could do was stare. Eventually I rid my mind of the dirty thoughts and walked up to her front door. ‘AMY LOUISE WILLIS, EVERYONE IN THE STREET CAN SEE YOU GETTING CHANGED!’ I shouted. I heard a squeak and she opened the door, still standing in her towel. ‘Happy 6 month anniversary sweetie.’ I say, pulling her into a hug. ‘Thank you!’ she squeals, ‘However, my towel is falling down and I need to put some clothes on.’
‘Oh you don’t have to do thattt.’ I say, grabbing her hand and winking. She pushes me away and runs upstairs giggling, with me following closely behind. I sit on her bed and wait for her to change, she emerges from the bathroom 10 minutes later dressed in black leggings and my chequered shirt, tied in a not just above her belly button. ‘That’s the quickest I’ve seen you get changed!’ I say, she punches my arm, ‘That was getting changed!’ she laughs, ‘I still have to do my makeup!’ she says, running into her dressing room. I follow her in but soon get bored of watching her draw on her face. I wander up into her bedroom, looking at her drawings. Whenever she gets sad, or upset, she draws these amazing abstract drawings, or quotes. Her room is plastered with all these multi-coloured drawings. Then something catches my eye. In the corner of her room, there’s a big red stain on the carpet. I walk closer and look; it doesn’t look like a drink or anything. I sit down on her bed, puzzled, trying to figure out what that stain is. I snap back into reality when Amy walks in, fiddling with her belly button, ‘What on earth are you doing?’ I say, laughing,
‘Putting my piercing in!’ she says,
‘What piercing?’ I ask quizzically,
‘My belly button piercing, I got it done months ago, you were with your sister so I went with Dougie.’
‘You let Dougie trick you into getting your belly pierced?’ I say sternly,
‘It’s ok!’ she shouts, ‘I’ve always wanted it done, and I wanted someone to go with.’ I sigh, looking at it, it looks quite good actually, against her flat stomach. But the longer I stare, the more I start to think that she wasn’t that skinny a few months ago. I rest my hand on her stomach, ‘Have you lost weight?’ I say,
‘No.’ she says defensively, undoing the knot in her top so it fell down over my hand.
‘Amy, you were never this skinny.’ I say, a worried look on my face.
‘I’m fine!’ she shouts.
‘Ok!’ I say, rubbing her belly, then my hand moves over a lump. I move my hand back, definitely a lump. She senses something is wrong and pulls my hand away. ‘Amy, let me see your stomach.’
‘No!’ she says, getting up and fixing her hair,
‘Amy!’ I shout, pulling her round to face me, ‘Please.’ She frowns and sits down on the bed.
‘There’s nothing there!’ she protests but I know what I felt. I sigh, sitting down next to
‘Amy, please.’ I whisper staring at the floor. She takes my hand and whispers,
‘Please, if I show you, you can’t tell anyone.’ Tears have started welling up in her eyes. What is it? Has Dougie tricked her into getting a tattoo? She lifts up her shirt to where it was before, and before I can stop, I’m uncontrollably crying. ‘Danny, Danny, it’s ok!’ she says, rubbing my leg.
‘Lift it up again.’ This time she lifts it up and ties it back in a knot. I scan her stomach, and just underneath her ribcage, there are tiny little dashes. Scars. ‘Amy why didn’t you tell me!’ she looks scared by my sudden outburst. ‘I, I didn’t want to scare you.’ she says, tears falling down her face. ‘How many more are there?’ I ask. She rolls up her sleeve and shows me more small dashes, just next to her elbow. Then she rolls up her leggings, revealing a small ring of scars around her ankle. I crouch down on the floor next to her ankle, kissing the little ring of scars. ‘Amy.’ I whisper, ‘Please.’ Then all of a sudden my thought go back to the stain. ‘That stain over there…’ I say, pointing to the corner, she nods. I get back up onto the bed and lay down, pulling her down next to me. She wraps her arms around me and rests her head on my chest, her tears soaking my shirt. ‘I cough to try and cover up the fact that I had tears streaming down my face. ‘Please don’t cry.’ She whispers.
‘It’s hard not to.’ Is ay, rubbing her head, ‘When your girlfriend keeps a secret like that for 6 months.’
‘I’m sorry.’ She whispers, ‘Maybe you shouldn’t have bothered with me.’ She says, ‘I’m a hopeless case. I’m depressed, anorexic, ugly.’ She whispers, she gets up and runs into the bathroom. I start to really cry over what she just said. Then I hear a clatter in the bathroom and a groan. My eyes widen and I start to shake. ‘AMY!’ I shout, running out of her room. I start hammering on the bathroom door but it’s locked. I hear a cry come from inside and I start shaking even more. ‘AMY!’ I continue shouting but she doesn’t open the door. She cries again and I start to wail. ‘AMY PLEASE!’ I scream, turning my back to the door and sliding down it, so I’m left sitting with my knees to my chest. She cries again, then screams. ‘AMY!!!’ I scream back, I pull out my phone and dial Tom’s number. ‘TOM! Amy’s in trouble!’ I wail into the phone, ‘Get hear as soon as you can!’
‘Danny mate, what’s happen-’
‘Please Tom, just come to Amy’s!’ Amy screams again and I hang up. ‘Hang on sweetie. Everything will be alright.’ She groans then goes silent. ‘AMY?’ I shout, standing up and banging on the door, ‘AMY!!!’ No reply, I wait, but there’s no groan, no scream. My heart stops. ‘AMY!’ I’ve started making dents in the door but I don’t care, I keep hammering. I hear a banging at the door and sprint down stairs, I’m greeted with a very pale faced Tom, ‘Danny, what-’
‘Dial 999, NOW!’ I scream, running back upstairs. I keep banging on the door but eventually give up. ‘Amy.’ I whisper, ‘Please.’
