The Dragon time is coming. And only a King can save you now.
The King shall be the Champion of Champions.
You shall know the King By the King's Lost Things.
A fang-free dragon,
my second-best sword,
My Roman shield,
An arrow-from-the-land-that-does-not-exist,
The heart's stone,
the key-that-opens-all-locks,
The ticking-thing,
the Throne,
the Crown.
And last and best of all the ten,
The Dragon Jewel will save all men.
The Prophecy of the Kings Lost Things. A prophecy passed down in a century, to all the inhabitance of The Wilderwest, or as it was known now, The Barbaric archipelago.
If you had asked Hiccup what he thought when he was younger, he'd probably say something along these lines, "Old folktales don't interest me, only dragons," and then hed run of to do something involving said creatures. However, he would soon learn to heed prophecies more than he had so before.
.................................
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was, according to most of the population of Berk, a hero, the rest of the archipelago called him many things, The Dragon Conqueror, The Dragon Whisperer and Dragon Master were just some of the many things he was known as. But that didn't mean much to him, though he did correct people who called him, The Dragon Conqueror, for he had not conquered Dragons, he had trained them.
Hiccup didn't think much about the fame, it wasn't really something hed do, instead, he focused his time on Berk, helping it inhabitance adjust to a new life with dragons.
Today it was just a little under a year after he and Toothless had defeated The Red Death, usually, his time would be spent at the academy, teaching the other teens, and occasionally the children of the village. The adults were the ones who had the hardest time adapting, but they had eventually.
........................................
"Wooo yeah" Hiccup yelled, flying around on Toothless in the skies of Berk, the wind in his hair. Today was a good day for Hiccup, no teaching at the academy, no helping out in the forge and no dragon involving trouble, basically, this was a rarity for him.
Currently, he was flying over one of the smaller islands at the northern side of Berk, happy to finally get some time to just enjoy life. The island was covered in thick forest, and only had a few barren places near the edge.
"What do you say we get a little break, huh bud?" Hiccup asked Toothless as they flew near the edge. Toothless responded with an agreeing smile.
The two friends landed on the edge of the forest, Hiccup unhooked from the saddle and stood on the ground, looking into the forest.
"Don't think we've been on this island before bud" Hiccup said and began walking into the forest, Toothless following close behind him. Though the forest looked thick from above, it was very beautiful down under the treetops.
Hiccup and Toothless walked around for a bit, they came to a building like structure made of stone, but it seemed to be falling apart. Plants and trees were growing in and out of it with no order, and stone bricks were lying all around.
"This is certainly something," Hiccup said as he looked at the ruin, "Noones build houses of stone since Grimbeard the Ghastly's time."
Looking at the ruin and smiling Hiccup walked towards what might have been a door in the past, "C'mon bud, let's get a closer look at it."
Toothless grumbled in agreement and followed after Hiccup inside the building.
Hiccup marveled at the building, in the past, the people of what had been known as The Kingdom of the Wilderwest had been building all their houses of stone, but after its fall a century ago, it had been banned in the entire archipelago.
The place was old and long forgotten, the walls were filled with old, dirty clothes with patterns of dragons and people doing many things. There was even a sword, decorated with the most detailed patern of dragons Hiccup had ever seen hanging on the wall.
A ray of sunlight had found its way through a hole in the roof, shining down on a marble pedestal with a thick brown, leather-bound book.
Curious about it, Hiccup walked up to it and read the title.
THE HADDOCK FAMILY
"A book on my family?" Hiccup questioned and looked at Toothless, who just looked back at him with big, round eyes.
Hiccup opened the book and read the first page, which was a list of every family member, and a page number, showing where to find more information about them. He noticed the first name rather quickly.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock I
But the name at the bottom of the page was the more surprising.
Grimbeard the Ghastly
*Crack*
Hiccup jerked his head up in surprise, a small dragon the size of a Terrible Terror had walked inside, stepping on a small brach in the process. Hiccup stared at the small dragon, it looked nothing like any dragon he had ever seen, it was green, had long fangs and looked old. Whilst Hiccup looked at the dragon, it studied him too.
"The resemblance is uncanny," the small dragon said in Norse, "You must be Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. I am Wodsfang."
