An ode to stories with unknown starts
Made of lost souls and bleeding hearts
The farther you dive the deeper it gets
Beware yourself of the fishing nets
And before you enter, learn how to swim
For when you drown all light is dim
If you always rely on your lifeguard
You either die or don't get far
No matter how sacred they are to you
Hold back your feet is all they do
And when you no longer can move around
On the sea floor your body will be found
Not sitting down with the king of the sea
But a breathing corpse waiting desperately
For a moment that will never come
That you'll sail a ship of gold and rum
And when you wonder why you're in the abyss
There will always be a detail you'll miss
The lifeguard who would pull you up to shore
Set you down on the ocean floor
When you lay alone my words will ring
Like light streams in empty housing
Like the napkins you'd use to stop crying
Like the words of a person you've been eyeing
Effective they are but they hide truths
Ones that you must look be looking through
I won't hold your hand throughout the way
But I might tell you when it's night or day
You'll enjoy the time inside this cell
After all your life was a living hell
Or so you proclaimed to the ones you love
You were greedy, you never had enough
You'll spend your time alone in here
But believe me the end is far from near
You will not leave until you understand
How you cut off the wrists of helping hands
