James randomly arrived at Burr's doorstep one December evening, face flushed with cold and glassy eyes with tears clinging to his eyelashes. Aaron gasped and ushered him inside, shutting the door behind them. "Jesus James! Did you walk here?" The taller male asked in concern. Madison walked into the living room and away from Burr. "Talk to me, James." Aaron said softly. James snivelled, and turned to look at him, tears staining his cheeks. Aaron's eyes softened and he approached the smaller male carefully.

Aaron embraced James, cautiously, trying not to scare him away. Madison clung to the other's shirt, sobbing. Burr gently rubbed his back and waited patiently for a response. "Thomas-T-Tommy..." James hiccuped. "What about him?" Aaron whispered, combing his fingers through James's dark curls. "W-we had an argument..." He whimpered. Burr held back a snarl, "He didn't hurt you did he?" The taller male almost demanded. "Not physically..." James whispered.

Over time, James calmed down. He moped around Burr's apartment, mainly lay on the couch with his head on Aaron's lap. He'd been there for six days, and kept to himself. They rarely spoke about Thomas, and spoke about other things.

A  few knocks interupted them one day. Aaron gently moved James's head from his lap and strode towards the door. "What are you doing here." He demanded, and Thomas shifted from foot to foot. "I-I want to see James..." He mumbled. "Well then. I really don't think he wants to see you. You've broken him, Thomas. He's been lay around my apartment for days like a lost soul. The night he arrived here he could barely say a coherent sentence." Burr seethed. Thomas flinched and looked away slightly.

"Tommy!" James cried out, he pushed past Aaron and threw himself into his boyfriend's chest. Thomas sighed in relief and hugged James even tighter, "I'm so sorry, Jemmy..." He whispered. James snivelled slightly. "Promise me, Thomas..." He whimpered, "Promise me that we'll never argue again. I didn't like this..." James clung onto Thomas's jacket like he was the air he needed to breathe. "I promise, Jemmy. I'm so sorry." Thomas's voice cracked slightly. Aaron stood by, "I.... I'm sorry for snapping, Thomas... Are you two gonna be OK?" He asked. "Yeah... Yeah I think we're gonna be fine now..." Thomas nodded slightly. "OK... Take care, you two... It actually isn't pleasant to watch you two break down..." Burr admitted. "Yeah... I highly doubt we're gonna argue again..."

Aaron shut the door after they traded goodbyes. He leant against the door, sliding down it slowly.

"I was so close... He could of been mine..."
