Two years after the whole Sunday fiasco Lucas was sixteen years old and more definite that he was gay. He still had a massive crush on Charlie for one which wasn't a surprise because Charlie was majorly good looking and also a very nice person. They sat beside each other in class for the first few months when Charlie first came to the school so Lucas had gotten to know him fairly well. Charlie did make other friends but he mainly hung out with Ev and Lucas. Which of course was fine by them. Charlie wasn't as emo as Ev or Lucas but he did like Dan and Phil, Sherlock and Doctor Who which was an extra bonus. That was mainly what they discussed when they were hanging out together, usually they would hang out at Charlie's, his house was always empty because both his parents worked and his sister liked to stay out until late.

Ev of course knew about the crush so she would try to leave them alone a lot of the time which Lucas found extremely annoying because Ev was sort of the link between the two of them, it was a little more awkward without Ev there to start conversations. So once again one Wednesday afternoon after school Charlie asked Ev and Lucas do they want to go over to his house for a while. Lucas said "yeah, sure" and then looked expectantly at Ev but she decided that they should have some alone time and just said "I have to go to the dentist", Lucas knew that was a lie so he shot Ev a dirty look that would've killed Ev stone dead if looks could kill, she just walked away home like nothing happened leaving poor flustering Lucas with his one and only senpai.

Lucas and Charlie slowly walked towards Charlie's house in silence. Charlie eventually broke it by saying "did you see Dan and Phil's new Gamingmas video?" Lucas, relieved to have something to talk about said "yeah i have, it was pretty good, not as good as the one from the day before though." Charlie then replied with a short "yeah" which brought the conversation to a swift close. They walked the rest of the way without saying a word to each other, Lucas cursing Ev in his head.

When they eventually got to Charlie's house Lucas plonked himself on the living room sofa and started to set up the PS4 which is what they usually played when Lucas and Ev were at Charlie's. Charlie went into the kitchen and called back at Lucas asking does he want any brownies. Lucas imediatly answered with a yes becaused he was starving after the long day at school. Charlie came in with a tupperware box full of delicious looking homemade brownies and Lucas's mouth began to water. They both took one each and started to play FIFA on the PS4 until Charlie started to miss all of the shots and once ran with the ball in the opposite direction. Eventually Lucas told Charlie to get a grip but Charlie just giggled and dropped the controller on the floor. Lucas began to feel the affects aswell, he saw the controller and couldn't help but laugh. He started to think that he never felt this good in his entire life. He looked into Charlie's eyes saw that they looked really weird and were growing very big, he said to Charlie "your eyes, they're like the size of the moon!" Charlie giggled again and fell onto the floor and said "man, I've never felt this good!" Lucas was now looking at a freckle on his hand and saying it looked real funny, Charlie then grabbed Lucas's hand and agreed with Lucas.

Charlie didn't leave go of Lucas's hand.

Lucas giggled quietly and said under his breath "I think it's nine in the afternoon" Charlie laughed back, leaned in and kissed Lucas. It all went to fast, they both looked down at their shoes the second after the kiss and Lucas began to giggle again. "Nine in the afternoon? I like it" Charlie whispered as he turned to look into Lucas's eyes.

Just as Lucas looked back at Charlie, Charlie's sister Meg practically ran into the room fuming. Charlie dropped Lucas's hand faster than he had ever dropped anything before, thankfully she didn't notice, mainly because of how mad she was. She started to scream at Charlie saying things like "HOW DARE YOU TAKE MY BROWNIES, THEY WERE LITERALLY THE ONLY BATCH I COULD AFFORD TO MAKE, HOW DARE YOU!" She said a lot of other things aswell but Lucas growing up in his good Catholic household didn't really understand. Charlie just stared at his sister looking slightly bemused. She then grabbed the remaining brownies and said "I'll talk to you when you're not high!" She looked at Lucas and said "you'd better go home". Lucas, quite willingly hopped up and began his journey to Ev's house.

Ev as expected was at home, she had lied about the dentist. Lucas could hardly wait to tell her what had happened and once she opened the door he sprinted up the stairs to her bedroom to avoid shouting it at her on the front steps for her whole family to hear. Once she closed the door Lucas told her everything. Ev squealed quite loudly, so loud it hurt Lucas's ears, but he didn't really care. She began to dance around the room shouting "I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!" Lucas was tempted to join in but the brownies were wearing off fast so he was less willing to for fear of making a fool of himself. After long discussions on what had happend Lucas was eventually allowed to go home.

When Lucas made it home he went straight to his bedroom and texted Charlie. He just texted "hey" but Charlie didn't get back to him at all. At dinner Lucas didn't talk much, he just ate quickly and went back upstairs.

The next day Lucas strolled into school a half an hour early and felt himself being dragged behind a bin by the one and only Charlie. Charlie told Lucas that the day before should never of happened, he told him the kiss meant nothing, last of all with a tear in his eye Charlie told Lucas that he wasn't even gay.

These words left Lucas standing behind the bin for the next twenty minutes. He felt like his heart had been ripped out and stood on by at least a million elephants. Despite feeling this Lucas didn't even cry, he just walked into the school like nothing had happened. He lived on without showing the immense pain he had just experienced. However the words Nine in the afternoon would be engraved in his mind forever.
