"Mrs. Kia, good morning," Lailla called out to the maid in the kitchen.

"Oh dear how are you, did you sleep well?" asked Mrs. Kia enthusiastically.

"Very well," said Lailla smiling back and shyly looking away.

Mrs. Kia, was one of the rare people who could see past Lailla's tough girl attitude and see the brighter side of her.

"Oh dear you must be starving, oh look at you," said Mrs. Kia rubbing Lailla's face like you would to a little puppy, "Oh come, my dear, have a seat and I will get you a bowl of warm porridge to eat," she said pulling out her old wooden stool that she normally sits on during her breaks.

"Why don't you eat with the others anymore?" asked Mrs. Kia, "Is it because your Dad isn't around so you aren't comfortable around them?"

"I guess you don't know but The Queen is treating me bad because..." Lailla paused.

"Because what dear?" asked Mrs. Kia.

"Because I don't call her step-mom and I'm... a little rude to her sometimes," Lailla added, "But that is because she and Catherine are mean to me!" she muttered under her breath.

"Sweet dear," said Mrs. Kia placing the hot bowl of porridge on the place mat in front of Lailla, "All you have to do is show her a little respect and she's bound to change her attitude towards you," she said.

"May...be," says Lailla in between blowing her hot spoonful of porridge.

"Bread?" asks Mrs. Kia.

"Yes please," replied Lailla.

"It's not a maybe dear, it's either or neither," she said.

"Either or neither what?" said Lailla confused.

"About her changing because of you showing her respect," said Mrs. Kia trying to clarify herself.

"Adults like to be right and respected if I may so," said Mrs. Kia, "And right now you are not being respectful of her even though you say she is being rude to you."

"She is!" Lailla raised her voice, trying to justify herself.

"Now watch that tone with me young lady!" Mrs. Kia scolded Lailla for raising her voice.

"Yes ma'am," replied Lailla ashamed of her action.

"Listen to what I say and this is something you will learn later in life, especially when it comes to relationships and outside children," said Mrs. Kia, "Queen Ezra and Catherine feels threatened because you came along out of nowhere into their lives, interrupted whatever picture of a perfect future that they had in mind and right now they are letting that feelings show, but what it really is, is fear."

"Fear?" said Lailla confused, "I'm the one who is afraid here, nervous and alone, why would they fear me?"

"Oh dear!" said Mrs. Kia sympathetically.

"I'm not here to steal their crown, castle or butler!" said Lailla a little angry.

"That's exactly what they think you are going to do, take their crown!," said Mrs. Kia, "So what they are doing now is trying to scare you away from the castle so that you will leave and Catherine who is the oldest of both the King and queen, would get the crown and become the new Queen when the time comes."

"Then why would she say what she did to me on the first day I came here, she's only contradicting herself," said Lailla.

"What did she say to you dear?" asked Mrs. Kia.
