Sasuke blinked in the hospital lights, flickering in his gaze, and he sat up in the hospital bed, the soft sheets and printed blue blanket hung over him, and he realized he had slept later than he had intended.
Exhaling, Sasuke sat up, the bright floors and the large window spilled in sunshine, and Sasuke turned his head away from the sunshine, only to see a red haired woman standing at the doorway.
"Karin? What are you doing here?" Muttered Sasuke, looking from the corner of his eye at his old companion.
"Just dropping by, saying a little hello." Smirked Karin, adjusting her red-rimmed glasses. She headed across the floor and sat down on the cushy chair near his bed. "So, how's go life in Leaf Village?" Karin asked, plopping her hands on her chin.
"Fine." Responded Sasuke shortly, not particularly wanting to talk with Karin at all.
"Still uptight, I see, Sasuke!" Giggled Karin. "Y'know, you should loosen up a bit." She tossed her hand and pulled off her glasses, setting them on the vacant table and tossing her leg on the other, she smiled flirtatiously.
Sasuke rolled his eyes, despising her flirty attitude. "What do you want?" He asked.
"Oh nothing!" Karin cooed, twirling a strand of her scarlet hair around two fingers, giggling nervously. "I just want to catch up on life, y'know?"
Sasuke looked away. "Just go away." He deadpanned.
Sasuke heard a slight gasp escape Karin, and then a low growl. "See, this is why I don't love you!" She snapped. "You're always pushing everybody away, never bothering to make any friendships or spending time with the people you care about!" She hissed, clearly hinting he should spend time with her.
Sasuke still didn't look at her. "So be it." He responded curtly.
"And that's why you broke Sakura-chan's heart!" Karin rolled on. "She's not wanting to speak about you AT all, or wanting to do anything with you! She's a completely different person, Sasuke!"
Sasuke's attention was catched, but he didn't let it show. Inside, a whirlwind of emotions caught him off guard. What was Karin talking about? Sakura being a completely different person?
She did seem a little odd, he had to admit. When Sakura had greeted him, her typical cheerfulness had been muted, and she didn't seem to want to engage in any conversation, and as far as he was concerned, Sakura had not hugged him for the past 48 hours.
Sasuke exhaled a sigh, concluding on not obsessing over little things such as this. He turned to Karin. "Can you leave? I want to be by myself." Sasuke abruptly broke into her sentence.
Karin glared at him, her eyes narrowed into slits as she snatched her glasses up and propped them on her ears.
"Don't go running to me when you have nobody beside you, Sasuke." Karin tossed over her shoulder as she slammed the door shut violently.
Sasuke leaned back down on the side of the hospital bed rail and exhaled something of a sigh that escaped from his mouth. He pulled his arms behind his head, staring at the blinding fluorescent lights of the hospital, and forced the thought of Sakura out of his mind.
Suddenly, the door opened, and sasuke turned his gaze to the door, sitting up, and there was a nurse, and Sasuke blinked, realizing this woman had a striking resemblance to Sakura. Her hair was deep magenta, short at her shoulders, and leafy green eyes, just like Sakura.
Before, Sasuke would have been cold and abrupt if someone had came in without knocking, but for an unknown reason, Sasuke blew out a sigh instead.
"What is it?" Sasuke asked, turning to face the nurse.
"We just wanted to check on how you we're doing." The nurse told Sasuke, venturing farther into the room. "We saw a red haired girl come in without permission, and she looked quite ruffled and furious. We we're worried something had happened."
Sasuke shook his head. "That was Karin, and I'm fine." He responded. "Just as I was when I first arrived here." He sent the nurse a hard look. "This is completely unnecessary. You have other patients, you shouldn't be wasting your time on me."
The nurse didn't seem fazed by his curt attitude, and instead smiled. "That's nonsense. It's quite clear you were in critical condition. You're cut on her leg was very deep. You'll be fine now. Just rest." She smiled brighter. "We're glad you're here, honestly!"
Sasuke widened his eyes in realization. Those words we're the ones that Sakura had said to him, long ago. But now, it seemed like she had said that a week ago.
Sasuke gripped his fist on the mattress tighter, watching his knuckles go from an pale ivory to snow white. Sakura meant this much to him? It couldn't be possible. Nobody had meant this much to him, where every striking thing reminded him of her.
"Are you alright?" Asked the nurse in concern. "Your awfully pale."
Sasuke blinked, shaking his head, and felt his skin tingle as the color drained back to his regular tone. "I'm fine." He responded.
The nurse smiled. "Ok! Well, call me if you need anything!" She told him cheerfully, and shut the door quietly, leaving Sasuke with his thoughts.
