Chapter Nine • Anger

"Is it InGen?" Adira asked from her place in the middle backseat. She still held the gun close to her, as if it would give her some protection as the drove to Raptor paddock in a rush.

"They wanna' use the Raptors to kill Indominus Rex" Owen explained for her. Zach and Gray sat quietly listening to the conversation while having no idea what they were talking about.

"You're shittin' me" she said a little frustrated.

"Nope, I think it's Hoskins" he told her as he increased his speed. Adira shook her head.

"No- No, I'm mad about that but c'mon.. Indominus Rex? Really? That's the best they could up with?" she laughed sarcastically. She was trying to distract herself from worrying about her Raptors by talking about the ridiculous name.

"That's what I said" he nodded while sending Claire a look that said 'I told you so'.

"Hoskins that bastard" she breathed out in annoyance. Zach tentatively brought his hand over hers where it rested on her knee while she tapped her fingers in a constant drum. She calmed down a little at his touch and sent a small smile but she still couldn't get over how nervous she was about the situation. Things weren't going to go well if they tried to do something to Enzo that he didn't like. He only trusted her.

Enzo was a male, unlike all the other dinosaurs on the island. They had somehow messed up when they were creating him and when he was born they tried to put him down. She had saved him that day and ever since they had an unbreakable bond.. well except when it came to food. Food came first, they were still wild animals and she understood that. She would be stupid to believe that she could control him. As was Hoskins.

They finally pulled up to Raptors paddock and Adira went to jump out when she spotted Hoskins but Owen held up his hand. There were inGen vans everywhere with the ASU.

"Stay in the car" he commanded as if she would comply. He should know by now that she didn't follow orders. They walked out of the car with long strides towards a smirking Hoskins. Adira whispered something to Owen just before they reached his stupid face.

"The mother hen has finally arrived" Hoskins smirked as he looked at both Adira and Owen who were quickly approaching him. Just as he had muttered the sentence, Owen brought his fist up in a fast moment, punching him in the jaw causing his face to turn completely to the side by the force.

"I'm glad I told you to do that" she smiled up at her brother before turning back to Hoskins when he regained his balance. Claire had finally made her way over, Adira didn't blame her, she had been running from a dinosaur in heels all day. She was the true hero.

"Get the fuck out of here and stay away from our animals" Adira told him in an angry voice.

"Such a bad mouth on a little girl" he replied with his smirk returning. Owen went to lunge at him for speaking to his sister in such a way but Claire thankfully intervened.

"Hoskins, you wanted this to happen you son of a bitch" she said with such anger it scared Adira a little. She was used to seeing Claire looking proper and ready for business, this was something knew but she was liking it.

"Oh, Jesus, how many more people have to die before this mission starts to make sense to you?" he asked as if it was obvious.

"It's not a mission, it's a field test" Barry added in. Adira jumped in surprise, she had no idea where he appeared from.

"This is an InGen situation now, there are gonna be cruise ships that show up at first light. Everybody's gonna get off the island. You're gonna watch a news story tomorrow about how you all saved lives!" he yelled. Adira ground her teeth in annoyance. "No, better yet, how your animals saved lives" he said while directing it at Adira.

"You can't control them Hoskins" Adira told him seriously. She may only be seventeen but she was going to stand up to this man because it was what she felt was right.

"They've never been out of containment. It's crazy" Barry added agreeing with Adira, she was as much as a consultant as himself or Owen was.

"Let's move it out!" Hoskins announced to the InGen workers before turning back to them, "This is happening! With or without you" he told them as he got closer to their faces as if to prove a point.

"Owen, you can't" Adira tried to beg when Hoskins had walked away.

"They're going to do it either way Adi, It's best if I'm with them than without" he explained. She nodded her head with a sigh before perking up again.

"We're with them" she corrected as they made their way over to set out a plan with the InGen soldiers.

"Adi you know you can't come" Owen sighed. "I do believe you're as much as their Alpha as I am, but you know I can't let my little sister go up against a 40 ft dinosaur"

Adira nodded her head annoyed, but in understanding. She was lucky he was letting her help plan. She was after all, still a minor, and she would be questioning his abilities to take care of her if he did let her out. It was the responsible thing to do, and she understood that even if he wanted to bring her out, he couldn't.

"Alright, what do you think we should do" he asked Barry and Adi before they approached the soldiers. Claire had gone back to the car to check on the boys.

"Hide and go seek" Adira suggested. "I'm sure there was a chunk of her left somewhere with the amount that was shot at her. Use it for her scent"

"It's a good idea" Barry agreed. He was sometimes baffled with how smart she was at such a young age.

"See, this is why I'm the beauty and you're the brains" Owen laughed as he ruffled her hair.

"Nah, we both know I'm the beauty and the brains" she swatted his hands away. "The only thing you have, is the fact you can talk to animals" she chuckled.

"Actually you're the one that talks to them" he shot back and walked over to the table to explain the drill to the InGen soldiers, mocking her tendency to talk to the Raptors. Adira wracked her brain quickly, she couldn't let him have the last word.

"I'm not the one with animated Raptor band aids in the emergency kit now, am I?"
