Thereafter, Emmet decided to tell Melissa and John about the tablet. He knew that he would probably never know what this tablet is, so he might as well let his family know what’s going on now.
“Honey! John! Come down here, it’s time for a family meeting!”
“A what? A meeting? We haven’t had those since John was in Kindergarten!” said Melissa.
“Well….this is important. Come down as soon as you can.”
Before Emmet could take another breath, Melissa and John were down on the first floor.
“Wow, you’re good,” Emmet said to the two of them, grinning.
After everyone was settled on the family couch, Emmet told them the whole story: The tablet hitting his head, the encounter with Rob, and all the good stuff in between.
“So, now, I don’t know what to do. Should I really believe this guy? Does this tablet thing have anything to do with Rob fixing my computer? What do I do? That’s why I asked you guys to come down,” said Emmet.
“Well,” said John, “there are different possibilities of what this could be. One, that Rob guy could be a lunatic. Two, this rock thing that hit you-”
“Tablet. It was a tablet, John. Not a rock,” explained Emmet.
“Yeah. Whatever. Anyways, this ‘tablet’ that hit you could have just been a rock or something. Maybe you’re just crazy,” said John.
“You’re right John, I might be crazy. This could all be my over exaggerating stuff. You know me after a long day at court. I get all crazy.”
“Wait a minute,” said Melissa. “I’m not going to just let this one pass. I know you have had days where you are crazy, but maybe this is different. Maybe this time, there’s a reason.” Melissa asked to look at the ‘tablet.’ Emmet gave it to her, and while she stood up, she put on her reading glasses and interpreted the tablet. Then, she looked at the computer Rob fixed. After a couple of minutes, she sat back down on the couch, with an expression on her face as if she knew what was going on.
“Honey, are you on to something?” asked Emmet.
“Emmet, I think it’s a sign. I’m not really sure how it is a sign. But it is a sign; that is one thing I know.”
“Melissa, I really don’t think this is anything important. John’s right, I’m probably getting too crazy about this stupid rock. You both are the only important things in my life. This tablet is somehow making me forget that. I gotta get rid of this,” said Emmet as he took the tablet, sat up, and walked outside to the trash can.
“Wait, Emmet!” yelled Melissa as she ran to Emmet before he opened the door. John started to yawn.
“Hey Mom and Dad, this is kind of getting boring….and old. Hey look at the time! It’s already 7:30? I’m gonna go hit the hay. Night!” said John as he zoomed upstairs.
I’m glad I’m away from all this weirdness, thought John.
“Can you just give me a chance, honey? I think I’m on to something,” said Melissa, trying to convince Emmet to change his mind about getting rid of the tablet.
“But don’t you think it’s for the good of the family? Besides, it’s not even anything important. It’s just a stupid rock!”
