The next morning, Erika jolted awake in a cold sweat. Every inch of her body was sore and stiff. She was in her own bed... but how? Erika noticed the carefully wrapped bandages covering her body. For as long as she could remember, Erika had been dressing her own wounds, but she'd never done it so well.

"Wow." she breathed in admiration.Then, she suddenly remembered the stranger who had saved her. "I wonder where he went." Erika thought aloud. She tentatively stood, trying to put as little weight on her feet as possible. Slowly, but surely, she shambled towards her bedroom door. She looked around her house and everything was quiet and still. The birds were singing, and the waves of the sea were crashing in the distance. Everything was fine. Everything was normal. She was alive. Erika walked tiredly towards a double chest in the corner, fishing out a half-loaf of bread. "Looks like I'll have to some cooking." she grumbled. Erika plopped down on a chair in the corner, closing her eyes and letting out a long, exhausted sigh. Across the room, Erika heard a floorboard creaking and somebody whisper;

"Dammit!" She opened an eye and looked over to where the noises where coming from, and standing near the window was a man. He was scarily tall, with powerful muscles and a tan complexion. His arms and collarbone were littered with pale scars, and his face was covered in stubble. He would've looked pretty normal to Erika, except for the fact that his eyes were a blank, glowing white. She stood and backed against the wall as he approached. "H-H-H-Hero-"she , managed to choke out. "H-H-H-Herobrine?" he mocked, a crooked grin spreading across his face. Erika looked increasingly terrified as he raised a hand. She thought that Herobrine was going to strike her, but instead, he placed an open palm on her head and tousled her golden curls. "How'd you sleep?" he asked her "You took quite a beating last night." "F-fine thanks." she stuttered "H-how did you know t-that I-" Herobrine's smile broadened. "Easy." he said, cutting her off "I saved you." "Thanks." she said blankly. "So," he began to explain "the real reason I came here was to ask you something. It's kind of serious." "Alright." she confirmed. "I don't really have a house right now..." Herobrine continued, looking a bit embarrassed. "And I was wondering if I could stay with you."

"Well..."

"You owe me. After all, I did save your life."

"If you put it that way, I'm sure we can make an arrangement."

"Great!" he grinned.

"Maybe you could build your own room on the side of the house..."

"That's alright. I understand that girls need more privacy anyway."

"Thanks again, Herobrine" Erika breathed "I-uhm-I need to go and do some mining. I agreed to meet a couple friends in a cave."

"Say no more." Herobrine replied "Also, just call me 'Hero' from now on 'Herobrine's a bit of a mouthful."

"Okay... Hero." Erika smirked as she grabbed a pickaxe and some torches, and headed out the door. A good half an hour later, Steve, Alex, and Erika all crossed paths in the agreed meeting place.

"Hey, little 'sis!" Alex called, her greeting chimed and reverberated off the stone walls.

"Hey, Alex!" Erika smiled back at her older half-sister.

"Whoa..." Steve said with a low whistle "You look pretty rough, Erika."

"Well, I have the coolest story to tell you guys about that." And so, over the clink and crack of pickaxes Erika told her friends of her interesting 'experience'. After quite a while of hard work, the trio ended their labor and sat beside each other on the ancient, rickety wooden bench in the mine shaft.

"So then you mean..." Steve said, still shaken with disbelief,"... that my long-lost runaway brother, the supposed 'devil' of all Minecraftia, is at your house, as we speak?"

"Yeah." Erika said to her friend with surprising calm "Actually didn't take very long to get used to."

"So, he's not as bad as everyone says he is, then?" Alex replied quizically.

"Well," said Steve, "Here's how it all went down."

"Here we go again..." Erika groaned.

"Alright, then *ahem* Way back when me and Hero were kids, I got really busy with a lot of extracurriculars and adventures 'n stuff, so Hero was left to fend for himself. (Kinda, but he still had dad.) Anyway, he was kinda naive and made friends with a total stranger. For a while, they got on pretty well, when one day something terrible happened and-"

"WHAT IS IT?!" Alex gasped loudly and overdramatically. Steve glared at her and she smiled innocently, with a look on her face that said 'What, me?'

"Anyway," Steve continued, still shooting a dirty look at Alex ", this stranger decided it would be a totally fantastic idea to betray my little bro, by putting him asleep with a potion, changing his eyes, sharpening his teeth and cutting him." Steve was beginning to tear up. "He didn't stop there, either" Steve continued ", he also managed to fake our father's death and make it look like murder. Specifically a murder that Herobrine committed." At this point, Erika looked quite shocked, she could hardly believe what had happened. Who would go that far and cross so many lines?

"Of course, they prosucuted him and he had no other choice but to run. Afterwards, it was discovered that Notch was still alive, the damage had already been done, and nobody could find him. The criminal was arrested, but he broke out of prison and changed his identity. Later on, people heard stories of Herobrine greifing random strangers. People started to wonder if he was actually the violent criminal they'd made him out to be. Later, it was revealed that almost more than half of them were impersonators."

"And the rest?" Erika asked, still transfixed on Steve.

"All Herobrine. I don't blame him. After all, the guy'd be God knows where by now, so he'd probably grief people every once in a while to see if he got the right guy. Because it could be anyone. Even maybe..."

"ALEX!" he shouted tackling Alex to the ground, and then kissing her cheek.

"Ya nasty." Erika proclaimed, averting her eyes.

"Why, though?" Alex asked as she dusted herself off. "I mean; you're gonna have to find a boyfriend sooner or later, too."

"Am not." Erika pouted. "I don't need a guy... yet."

"See?! You sound just like you did when we were kids!"

"I do NOT!" Erika grumped, shoving Alex's shoulder. "C'mon you two. Erika said she was making dinner tonight. Plus, I wanna see my brother." Steve announced. "Wait. I'm all for you getting back together with your little brother, but since when did I say that was making dinner."

"Since my last overly long monolouge." Steve reminded her. "You specifically said;" Steve cleared his throat, and then began again in a squeaky falsetto, " 'If Steve goes into another overly long monolouge again, I owe both of you dinner.' And," Steve continued, with a regular tone " It just so happens that I have just finished an overly long monolouge."

"Well, you guys better be ready for chicken sandwiches and tea, becasue that's all I can make with what's in my pantry." Erika said, casting an annoyed glance at him. "Sounds good to me." Alex said, rubbing her stomach "I'm starving."
