Aimee and Harry: The School Talent Show.
Harry:
“Well! That's the last of them,” I said, falling back on the couch. I let the soft cushions bounce up around me.“We've watched all the audition tapes for a back-up singer, and...nada! Zilch! No-thing,” I blew out through my teeth, frustratedly. “Lucia's going to fry our asses.”
Lucia was our manager, very strict. It was her idea in the first place we needed a back up singer.
“What will we do?” Niall asked, putting a crisp into his mouth.
“I'm getting a drink from the car. There's some beer in the car boot, anyone want some?” Louis offered, rising from his seat. Only I raised my hand, so Louis went out the door. Liam took out his paper full of auditions. It was crumpled from Zayn accidentally making it into a paper aeroplane.
“What about Jane? She was passably okay...” He trailed off, as Louis burst back in the door. He shoved a flyer in my face.
“School Talent Competition!! Come along!” It read, followed by an address, date and time.
“What's the harm in going along? We might find our backing singer,” Louis grinned. I nodded, smirking slightly.
“What's to lose?” Niall said brightly through the last mouthful of crisps.
“It's in half an hour. Let's go! I'll drive,” I said, taking my car keys from the pocket of my jeans, where I always kept them.
“I'll get the first aid kit,” Zayn joked, and I gave him a friendly punch on his shoulder.
“Where is Guardian Angel School, anyway?” I asked, once I was sat in the driver seat. Louis passed me the flyer.
A couple more minutes after we'd been driving, we arrived at a fancy looking school, red brick and framed windows. A large poster hung across the gate's entrance: Guardian Angel School Talent Show!
“I cannot believe we're at a school talent show looking for a singer,” Niall smiled. “Park, Haz.”
I parked, and we wondered vaguely whether Guardian Angel was the type of school with girls who would go crazy over us. Deciding we didn't need the paparazzi hounding us, so we all pulled out the hoodies and sunglasses Lucia made us keep in the glove compartment.
“And last but not least, Aimee!”As we reached the big hall, we heard one of the teachers announce.
“Shit, we missed the show!” Louis cursed.
“Shut up, listen to her,” Liam shushed him, as this Aimee girl started to sing. She had a sweet, strong voice.
“Last night I got served a little bit too much,
Of that poison, baby.
Last night, I did things,
I'm not proud of and I got a little crazy!
Last night, I met a guy,
On the dance floor,
And I let him call me baby...
And I don't even know his last name
Oh, my mama would be so ashamed
It started off "Hey cutie, where are ya from?"
And then it turned into,
"Oh no, what have I done?"
And I don't even know his last name!”
She hadn't even finished and I already knew we'd found our back up singer. And she was so damn beautiful...
“You're staring,” Lou informed me, cheekily. I closed my mouth.
“We gotta get her. She was amazing. Come on, let's go around,” Liam spoke my mind.
Aimee looked perky.
“Hey!” I said, forgetting about my hood and glasses. “Aimee?”
“Can I, uh -” She paused to gulp from a bottle of water. “-can I help you?”
“Yeah, actually!” I said, optimistically. “I'm, uh...” I lifted down my hood, and folded the sunglasses into the pocket.
“Harry, uh...” She bit her lip nervously. “Styles.”
“Yeah,” I smiled. “Listen, Aimee. We heard you sing -”
“My God,” Aimee lifted her hand to her forehead.
“No, no. See, we loved your singing and were wondering whether you'd like to be our back-up singer?”
“Hey.” Aimee pushed the hair falling into her eyes back with her hand. “No, Last Name was just winging it...I don't really sing. Listen...”
“No, you listen, Aimee,” Louis cut across her. “Even if you were winging that song, you were great. And we really need a singer. Look.”
Louis got down on his knees and pressed his hands together, putting on puppy eyes.
“Pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty please please please!”
“Oh Lord,” Aimee laughed. “Okay, okay!”
“Really?” We all chorused. “Awesome!”
“Go away,” I hissed to Louis, who, without a word, smirked and shoved the boys into a different room. She looked at me with sweet eyes and I completely lost control of my tongue.
“You're so beautiful. Do you believe in love at first sight? I believe in love at first sight. Well, I didn't! Until I saw you, then I totally believed that phrase. Actually -”
“Yes.”
“Yes, what?” I lost my babbly tongue.
“Yes, I'll go out with you.”
I smiled, deciding to add a feeble joke, “But I don't even know your last name.”
“You don't need to,” She smiled. But not with her mouth. With her eyes.
