Cody's pov

I don't have work today and I have no idea what I'm gonna do. Maybe I'll go stop by Kayla's and we can go out for lunch. That sounds like a good idea. I arrive at Kayla's and knock on the door. Morgan opens it and behind her I see Kayla smiling and batting her eyelashes as she talks to another guy. My face dropped. Morgan clears her throat to get Kayla's attention and she looks over at me. "No, no, no Cody this isn't what it looks like." "Really? Because it looks like you flirting with another guy. I thought you actually might've liked me but I guess I was wrong. I should've known it was too good to be true." With that I stormed down the hallway, down the stairs, and then to my car. I got in and slammed the door behind me. I punched my steering wheel. How could I have let myself think she actually liked me??

Kayla's pov

I've always wanted to be an actress. So I asked Morgan's boyfriend to help me because I have an audition tomorrow. The scene I was practicing was a romantic scene so I had to smile and blush and bat my eyelashes. Of course I was pretending I was talking to Cody. I know I should've asked him to help me with this because he's a youtuber and he's auditioned for roles before but James was already here and I didn't know if Cody was already doing something. Then he came over and everything went downhill. At first I didn't see him because I was so into the scene but then Morgan got my attention and I knew he thought I was seeing someone else. "No, no, no Cody this isn't what it looks like." It really wasn't. "Really? Because it looks like you flirting with another guy. I thought you actually might've liked me but I guess I was wrong. I should've known it was too good to be true." That wasn't what it was like at all. I wanted to be with Cody and only Cody but I knew it was too soon to say anything like that to him. We only just started talking and we only had one date but I felt a connection with him that I have never felt with anyone else. I know he was so upset. I tried running after him but by the time I was halfway down the hallway he was already going down the steps. I didn't want to make this worse or have him argue with me so I just let him go. I know I should've chased him to his car but he wouldn't have heard me out. He would've just drove away.

Cody's pov

I drove away as fast as I could without going too far over the speed limit. I didn't know where I was going but I needed to get my mind off of the situation. My phone buzzed in the passenger seat.

Kayla 😊 : Cody please hear me out. It's not what you think was happening.

5 minutes later

Kayla 😊 : Cody please. Meet me at the diner so we can talk.

Cody: I'll be there in 5.

I guess I can hear her out. I got to the diner and she was already sitting in a booth with two chocolate milkshakes. "How did you know chocolate milkshakes are my favorite?" "Just a guess" "Okay I'm ready to hear you out. We both took a deep breath. "So I've always wanted to be an actress. I know a waitress wants to be an actress how cliche? But I've been wanting this for years and I have an audition tomorrow. And since it's a romantic scene and Morgan's boyfriend, James, was over I asked him if he would help me. I didn't know if you had to work today or else I would've asked you to help me. I'm so sorry that you thought I was seeing someone else. I know it's a little soon but I really like you Cody and I'm not looking to be with anyone else because I wanna see where this goes." "Wow. I'm so sorry I took it the wrong way. I feel the exact same way about you. You said when I was at your apartment that it wasn't what it looked like and I should've heard you out right then and there." "I'm glad we worked this out. So you forgive me?" "Of course! And I'll support you being an actress no matter what."
