Necko! Max

(( I'm not sure why I did this. - Winter. Warnings: none ))

Max sits in his tent, hiding from the rest of the world underneath his blanket. This morning his cat ears and tail had appeared and he couldn't get them to disappear. Usually, he had no problem hiding them. But now.. they wouldn't go away.
Sighing, the black haired boy pulls up his hood and hugs his bear, Mr. Honeynuts, pretty tight.
He had purposely not gone for breakfast, but Max was sure someone would come and check on him.
Thinking of random things that come to mind, Max is sudden pulled away by hearing some voices. Everyone must be going to do their afternoon activities.
Shit. He thinks to himself, hearing David's voice come closer to his tent.
" Max? You awake? "
Silence.
David sighs at the other side of the tent, but keeps his smile.
" Max I know there is no way you are still asleep. It's way too loud here. "
Max knew only one thing at that moment, he didn't want anyone to know.
" David.. please go away.. " David's smile falls realizing Max must not be okay, he had said please and didn't sound mean at all.
" Max you good? " David goes to open the tent which send Max into a panic as he hugs his bear tighter.
" Y-yes! Please! Go away. " He cries, making David's eyes go wide.
He now wears a look of determination. " No, Max. No camper left behind! I am going to help you feel better! "
And with that, he opens the tent, Max feeling like his life is over.
David sees a pile of blankets on the bed making him raise an eyebrow.
" Max, I can't help if you hide. "
" David, go. I want to be alone. "
" Max.. come on. " David removes his blankets making Max freeze. David stops as well, seeing the kid have a tail. " .....Max?.. "
Max lets out a shaky cry.
" David leave! I don't want anyone to know.. "
David shakes his head in disbelief, and grabs Max's shoulder so the kid is facing him.
" Max.. " He awkwardly starts, trying to make Max feel better. " It's fine.. "
Max sits up and glares at David. " It's not fine! " Max takes down his hood down so his ears are now visible. " Look at me.. it's awful. I'm a monster... " David's eyes widen. He hugs the jaded eye kid.
" Nonono.. You're not a monster max. The cat ears.. are just cute! "
" I'm not cute David. "
" Okay, but you're not a monster either. " He let's go and smiles at the boy. " It's just unique. Now, let's go to afternoon activities. No one will judge you, I promise. "
Max looks down at his feet. " I don't know David.. "
" Oh come on! I'll make sure of it! " Sighing at the happy male, Max agrees and they slowly walk out of the tent. Max mumbles stuff under his breath as they walk towards the weird mini camps.
" Hey! " Neil calls from afar. " Max! Come over here! Harrison made Nerris throw up slugs! "
Max looks up at David who smiles encouragingly.
Sighing, Max walks over to Nikki and Neil. Neil gasps seeing his cat ears.
" Max? Wh- "
" MAX! " Nikki gasps excitedly, her eyes light up. " KITTY EARS! "
She runs over to Max, tackling him to the ground.
" Gah- Nikki! " Max protests as Nikki sits on his chest and pets his ears. Neil bursts out laughing as Nikki excitedly pets the half cat boy.
After a few seconds of struggling, Max gives up and just lays there.
" I love cats! " Nikki smiles. " My mom won't let me get one! "
Max lets out a sigh and after a couple seconds of petting, he lets out a small purr making Nikki eyes light up brighter if possible.
" SUCCESS! " She giggles and gets off Max. Now embarrassed, Max stands up slowly. Neil stops laughing and speaks smiling.
" Wanna go see if Nerris is still spitting up slugs? "
" Yeah, okay. " Max smiles as Nikki jumps onto his shoulders. The necko lets Nikki ride on his shoulders as they walk over to the stage.
Nerris sits on the right side of the old stage while Gwen holds a trash can out for her. The poor girl seemed out of it as Harrison finishes up his last trick.
" Man.. " Nikki sighs. " We missed it. "
" There will be a show next week! " Harrison smiles brightly. " And I- Woah.. Max what the hell? " Everyone suddenly turns to Max, who looks terrified.
Nikki smiles brightly. " He's got cat ears! "
" Yes, we see that. "
" ...Isn't it cool?! "
She touches Max's cat ears once more making the right one twitch.
" Righttt.. " Erid comments, going back to her sports camp. Everyone goes back to their camps except the comedy trio.
Now Neil and Max sit under a tree while Nikki hangs from a branch happily.
" So you have just like always been a cat person. " Neil raises an eyebrow, looking at Max.
" Yep. "
" I like it! You should stay a cat person more often " Nikki smiles.
" Really?.. "
" Yeah! "
After sitting in silence a few moments, Neil bites his lip.
" So, can I touch your ears and tail? "
" Don't make this gay Neil. "
