"Ariella!"
I turn around to be embraced by my best friend who I came to visit over the summer. "Oh My gosh, I can't believe your finally here." he yelled out attracting unwanted attention to us in the airport.
I took a step back and looked at him. He had changed a lot now he was the one taller then me. It's been five year since I've seen him. He grew into a man.....a very good looking man.
"Hey David long time no see right." I replied.
"Are you kidding its been forever since I've seen you . Look at you your all grown up." he said.
David's parents and mine used to be friends when we were young. We spent our childhood together until unfortunately things changed between them. My parents moved away and David and me separated.
Today was the day I finally get to see him. I stared collage last year so I decide to visit him over summer break.
"Well lets get going, the town has changed a lot and I want to show you around little girl."
"What....little girl, for your information I'm 20." I replied
"Yes I know and I'm 23 so your still a little..now come on we don't got all day." He said dragging me along
When he spotted his car he started putting my luggage in the trunk.
" damn David how did you afford this car?" I asked while admiring the beauty of his corvette. "Well if you forgot Ari my dad is mayor of this town. Good things happen when your dad is the mayor."
"Well now you made me jealous.....how's your dad by the way?' I asked looking up to him.
"He's alright....he's just in a big mess right now."
"What big mess?" I asked him. He looked like he was deciding on telling me or not . He sighed and looked at me " There's this man and he owns part of the woods back in town. He wants more land and my dad has a lot of things going on." he said and looked away.
"Why would he want more land?"
David didn't look at me and sighed "I don't know." I knew he was lying but I wasn't going to say anything.
After a long ride to his house we finally arrived. David was right things did change. It was different, there wasn't the welcoming feeling anymore. it was lonely, cold, and mysterious.
Something told me this was the summer I wouldn't forget.
