I still haven't gotten a new computer and it would be a while before I do BUT I can write up in my phone. So there is going to be errors for now. Please bare with me and enjoy!

Even though they were the opposite sex, that never stopped them from being close friends or their family's from treating them like normal people. That led to today's sleep over that (y/n) was not thinking ahead about. She was probably 12 but she was deadly scared of what was in the dark so she still had her childhood night light. One she had to painfully unplug from the wall and put away before Tom could come over and make fun of her.

"He wont mind honey. You've been friends how long?"

"I am not supposed to be a baby dad!"

"You wont be. He's your best friend. Why would he kid about that?"

Mark had been arguing with his dsufhter about the night light and all the small thing they could do to keep some light on for her but she refused. She was to afraid of being made fun of.

**********

Tom packed his bag for the night well his mother argued with his younger sister, emma about the sleep over he could go to but she couldn't. She didn't understand why she had to stay home well her big brother and sister got to go out to friends houses over night.

"THOMAS! YOU CAN'T TAKE MY NIGHT LIGHT!" Emma cried out ehrn Tom had tossed in the moon shaped plug in.

It was his but she seemed to love the damn thing.

"Sorry emms but I need it tonight."

Emma looked up at her brother and smiled.

"Your girlfriend gonna laugh at you!"

Tom made a face at her.

"She's not my girlfriend you weirdo. She's just my best friend and no she's not!"

"Let's not start arguing. Emma, stop badgering your brother abd go down stairs and get your coat on so we can leave."

"She's going to think of me as silly for using a nught light mum?" Tom asked now with his sisters eords ringing in his head.

"Thomas, you and her have been friends for as long as you've both been on this earth and she knew you used one when you were both younger like you knew she had one one too. You would be surprised at what you cpuld learn from a good friendship. She won't think you silly. You both have your later years in life to kid about something like this." Diana smiled, holding her sons face in her hands.

"But isn't silly just a lil?" He asked.

"No my boy is isn't now get your butt downstairs so we can go."

Diana zipped the bag up and handed it to her son who still looked like he was fighting in his mind over what to do.

Emma was jumpinn around the hallway waiting for her mother and brother before she swung the front door open and ran to their car.

******************

After dinner Diana had left wirh a yooung emma who was ready to fall asleep on her feet. With the goodbyes and the telling Tom to behave, she left leaving Tom and (y/n) to play and watch tv before bed. They had the living room set up into a fort using the cushions.

"I am exhausted but we got to get through this movie before bed!"

"Tommy, we watch that movie EVERY single night we have sleep overs."

"It's a classic (nickname). You can't say you don't wanna see it." Tom reported, popping the VHS into the machine and laying back down.

They had both sung, getting under the covers and getting comfortable unknowing the other that they were afraid of when the film would end and they would be in total darkness. Luckily for both of them, (y/n)'s dad had turned the hall light on before walking away.

"Maybe they should put a night light on. Gosh." Y/n) joked if is she was thankful their dad left the light on.

"I still use one." Tom admitted.

"Seriously? So do I!"

"You just teased thay they should leave one on so you think it is silly "

"No. I just said that to make it seem like it was no big deal but I still have a night light."

Tom looked at her like he still didn't believe her with a crookes brow raise.

"Prove it."

Getting up and running to her room to retrieve the small light she so dependent on felt like and miracle and a curse all at once. Tom had sat up and waited, still popping left over pop corn in his mouth well he waited for his best friend to come back down and tell him she was just kidding and instead try to scare him by turning the lights out and jumping at him to get a good laugh in.

But instead she ran back down with the teddybear shaped light that sat on clouds and plugged it in by the tv.

"I've had this for years. When I was a wee baby my mum said. Did you bring yours?"

Reaching into his own bag, he pulled forward his moon one with a shooting start above it and handed it over to be plugged in.

****************

"I told you all those years ago that these were simply meant to be together." Tom told his now wife with a smile wrapping a arm around her shoulders and kissing her forhead.

"You think the baby is going to like them?" (Y/n) asked, laying her hand on her growing bump.

It took another fifteen years but they had gotten married. Supported one another through thick and thin and were now standing in their new nursery for their first child and the finishing touches were the nightlights that were going right in the corner in eye shot of the crib and rocking chair. The same ones that cemented their own lives together as children.

"Almost as much as we did. And hopefully they don't feel ashamed like we did all those years ago of needing to hide these from their own friends."

"Why would they do a silly thing like that?" Y/n) smiled, reaching up to kiss Tom.
