DEANS POV:

"It's her birthday." I say out of the blue as Sam and I are driving home, bloody, from a hunt.

"What- oh, oh yeah." Sam responds hanging his head and locking his phone, no longer interested.

Some more silence followed and I faintly heard her favorite song come on the radio.

Sam went to turn it up but I turned it off before he could even reach it.

"I can't."

"Oh, right. I'm sorry Dean."

More silence.

Sam piped up, not looking at his brother, but out of the window, "I know how much you loved her."

"You loved her too." I said, now choking on tears.

"Not like you did Dean..."

"I know."

"I really don't think I've ever seen you like anyone more. I could tell you really cared for her, you really tried."

"I know." I replied, becoming stiffer and gripping the wheel tighter.

Say I don't look much like a lover
Doesn't mean that I won't try
Set your world on fire every once in awhile

" I remember the night we were at that bar and you wouldn't leave her side for anything. No one could even look at her... and the other times when I walked in on you guys talking on the dead of night in random rooms."

We lie on the kitchen floor
Hot air rises and it's going to be hot as hell here soon
We are going to need some relief

Apparently the only words I could mutter out without breaking down was, "I know."

More silence came after that and I was thankful, because my hands were now trembling.

After about twenty minutes of solid silence in what I could guess was grieving sam spoke again.

"You could tell she was in love with you."

I almost crashed the car after this sentence and sam yelled. I had to pull over.

I spun in my seat to look my younger brother in the eye, "what did you say?"

"I-I said, you could really tell she was in love with you. Did you not know? Why do you think I left you alone so often."

This hit me like bricks and I searched frantically through the glove compartment for the note she had left and jammed it in Sams hands.

"You think she was actually in love with me?" I asked.

"Oh Dean, of course she was!"

I reversed the car and I spun around in the other direction.

"Where are we going Dean?" He asked.

But I didn't answer.

About half an hour later we arrived at a field, it looked normal and bare, except for one large rock in the center.

Sick of leaving things half done, leaving things half said
Sick of leaving things half done, leaving things half said

I walked to it and sank to my knees, Sam following.

He looked confused at first, then I pointed to the rock.

"May she find peace in the next life" was all that it read and sam soon understood.
