Again Caylin found herself sitting in a hospital waiting room. Leanne was being seen to by an ER doctor. She was fine apart from some exposure and shock, but they wanted to check her out anyway.
Tony came down the corridor carrying two hot chocolates and a smile on his face.
"What?" Asked Caylin gratefully taking the warm drink. She wondered if she would ever feel warm again.
"Amy, I just called her. She's glad everyone is alright, but I think she was buried beneath two warm Golden Retrievers and wasn't too happy about being disturbed."
Caylin laughed, looked like Amy might be the next recipient of a Golden Moments dog.
Tony sat beside her, his free arm about her shoulders, he was just about to ask an important question of her when the ER doors opened and in came a sobbing Wilma Ray Edwards with one of the carers from the home.
She saw Caylin and went over to her. "Hello dear. You know about my Larry?"
Caylin looked up into the old tear stained face.
"Yes ma'am I do. I'm sorry. I'm sorry he got hurt too." Caylin gently took the old woman's soft wrinkled hand.
"No sweetheart, I'm sorry. I'm sorry we didn't do a better job of raising him after his parents died. He really killed all those poor girls?"
Caylin nodded. The crime scene techs were still out at the Assumption Parish road property. As predicted sixteen drums containing adiposeer and other recognizably human tissue were found. Larry Edwards was in surgery, having his ruined shoulder repaired, but the police were hoping to extract a full confession when he was ready to be questioned.
All told the FBI believed that Larry Edwards had killed over eighty young women in the past twenty year period. Thus making him one of America's most prolific serial killers to date.
Caylin shook her head, "It wasn't your fault Mrs Edwards, Larry probably had something wrong with him right from the word go. The death of his parents was just the catalyst."
Willie nodded and squeezed Caylin's hand, "You are very kind. Best of luck young lady." She replied and continued on her way.
Caylin watched her go her heart breaking for the sweet little grandmother, who just didn't deserve someone like Larry Edwards for a grandson.
Hot chocolate drunk, Caylin laid her head against Tony's shoulder and in five minutes she was asleep. The unasked question still in the forefront of Tony's mind.

Caylin awoke with a start an hour or so later to find Grace, Hector and Sharon approaching herself and Tony.
"How's Leanne?" She asked sitting up.
"She's fine Minha, they sedated her, she'll be here for the night. I know you guys are tired, but do you think we could wrap up the paper work tonight. Won't take long." Answered Hector.
Caylin nodded, she wanted this all wrapped up. She just wanted to go home to Amy and the dogs and sleep.
Tony's question was still tickling the front of his mind, but now he was thinking of making it even better.
He hugged her close and followed their friends out of the hospital.

Larry Edwards awoke in the dark. He was aware of something hooked into his arm, the soft beeping of a machine, and a mask covering his face.
He opened his eyes and in the dim light of the hospital room, he saw a figure sitting in the chair across from his bed. It was Willie. His grandmother by now knew everything, every girl he killed, every awful thing he did. The old lady was asleep, what would she say when she awoke?
Shame and guilt began to burn within his chest. For the first time in his life. He'd done the wrong thing. He killed again and again and again. Now Nana Willie knew.
Tears squeezed themselves out of his eyes and he clenched his fists. He'd let his nana down. How would he live with this?
"I can help you with that!" Came a cold voice beside his head. He looked up to find the spirit of Tarryn Phillips standing beside his bed with his IV line in her fist.
He opened his mouth to scream, but felt like he couldn't get any air. "Go back to hell, where you belong!" The ghost snarled at him as she kinked the IV Line and then let it go. An air bubble traveled up the thin tubing and lodged itself into Larry Edwards' blood stream.
The mirror over the bathroom sink cracked and the machines in Larry's hospital room began blaring out warning alarms, bringing his poor shocked Grandmother awake and sending her running for the nurse.

A Resus Team rushed into the hospital room of a serial killer. They defibrillated, they massaged his heart, they cracked his ribs. They pumped oxygen.
Despite their best efforts, twenty minutes later, Larry Edwards, killer of over eighty or more woman was pronounced dead.

A week later after a Coronial Investigation was complete, it was deemed Larry Merle Edwards, serial killer had died in New Orleans Memorial of an air embolism caused by injuries sustained upon apprehension.

Early the next morning Caylin was fitting her key into the lock of her tiny bungalow, Tony right behind her. They had barley opened the door when they were met by two excited dogs, and one excited Amy.
The dogs jumped all over everyone with bladder straining excitement and Amy was trying to hug Caylin and Tony and the two dogs all at once.

Once they were comfy in the living room with steaming mugs of coffee and thick slices of raisin toast, Amy asked, "So, did you ask her yet?"
"Amy!" Said Tony in shock, confirming his sister's suspicions, that no he hadn't.
"Ask me what?" Caylin said feeling nervous. She hoped it wasn't THE question, no way was she ready for that.
"Well, what I wanted to ask you is, mine and Amy's inheritance came through from an old Uncle who died. He left us a big house on the outskirts of town. We were going to move in there. And we thought you might like to move in too. Plenty of room for Jerry to play, and we could use an extra person to help upkeep the place. But with all that happened with Leanne, I was thinking maybe we should ask her too. She won't want to be alone after this, and there'd be more room for Molly too. I know Jerry would love it." Tony leaned towards her expectantly.
Caylin's mind whirled, move in? A lovely big house, room for everyone?
"I'll be right back!" She said, getting up and Jerry trailed along behind her.
She went into her darkened bedroom and closed her eyes, she took a deep breath, picturing his face.
"Want do you think?" She asked the suddenly not so empty room.
She opened her eyes and saw her cheeky brother standing beside a bedroom lamp that bloomed into life, revealing his gap toothed grin and the the thumbs up gesture he was giving her.
Caylin smiled and nodded, Jerry nodded back and was gone.
She took another deep breath, and headed back to the living room, her faithful dog at her side.
"Looks like we have a deal!" Caylin smiled.
Amy and Tony got up to hug her. The dogs crowded in too. As she looked over Tony and Amy's shoulders another figure appeared in the living room. Lovely Donna Louise, soon to be at her final peace. Was also smiling and nodding and holding up her thumb. As soon as Caylin told Leanne, she would be in too.

Caylin hugged her friends and the dogs. Once again she marveled at the capacity of wonderful moments that seemed to borne out of disasters or near disasters. Once agin she had been through a terrible ordeal. Her best friend's life in the balance. Now, all their lives would be balanced.
Soon the friend's drifted off to catch some well deserved rest. The girl's drifting off to sleep with a dog snuggled up beside them each.
Tony taking the couch, he wasn't about to argue with Mr Jerry on a night like this.
And as the occupants of Caylin's little house drifted off to sleep with empty minds and full hearts, another of Caylin's friend's was struggling with a decision of her own.
