I went to the door to make sure it was locked and then went over to open my window. I climbed out and when I got outside Matt was waiting for me at the end of the driveway.
We went threw this routine at least two nights a week if not more.Thats why I loved the fact that Matt lived right across the street . He was always willing to come out with me when my dad would come home drunk and my parents would start fighting.
Matt sounded just as tired as he looked, "hey Lee". He was the only person to call me Lee instead of Riley, but I liked it for some reason.
"You..you don't think she'll actually leave tomorrow...do you...?" My voice shook with every word because the thought of my mom leaving me with just my dad made me sick to my stomache.
I stood there staring at my feet waiting for an answer, but he just stayed quiet. When I finally looked at him he sighed and I knew he wasn't going to give me some bullshit answer of what I wanted to hear. He was going to tell the truth.
"Honestly Lee, I have no idea. From what you tell me about your dad though, she might not be able to take it to much longer..but if she does leave just know I'm always going to be here for you. Im not going anywhere even if she does."
Around 4 AM all the lights in the house finally went out. Matt and I said goodbye and both went home.
When I got back into my room I leaned up against the door to make sure everyone was asleep. When I didn't hear anything I checked again to make sure the door was locked and then I went to bed.
