As I pour this liquor
The candles flicker,
The leaves start to shiver
As the winds whisper.As the rain patters,
And the horses hooves clutter
The drunk men chatter and homewards stagger,
Darkness creeps in.I stand at the windows
Watching the bright moon
As the rain lethargically trickles,
Bad things will be about very soon.Calm ensues,
Flows through every conduit
But the silence that inhabits
Calls to the shadows, "it's time to consume".Lightening strikes,
Thunder booms.
My heart stops, then resumes
Something in the shadows screams and shrieks.Then I remember my drink,
I take a sip
And my concentration is snipped.
Just like that, in a blink.But there are still things in the shadows,
