People are always out to prove something to other people. You don't need to worry about impressing others. Prove things only to yourself.
"His name is Dean," I tell the guys. We're all sitting in front of my large flat screen tv playing Mario Cart.
Jax scoffs. "Sounds like a pretty boy."
We all chuckle.
"I think I've met him before," Bash admits. "Seems like a good guy, does his work, not a slacker." I watch his screen as his car goes right over the banana peel I threw a little while ago. "Son of a bitch, who did that?"
I laugh maniacally as my car flies threw the finish line. "Suck it!" I yell, doing my own little victory dance.
Zack throws his remote on the floor and walks over just to flop down on my bed. "I'm done, I hate that game, I never win."
"You guys are just a bunch of sore losers huh?" I mutter, folding my arms across my chest.
Jax stands and throws his arm around me. "Well, it doesn't help our manly ego when you keep being better than us at everything."
"Did you expect any less?" I ask with a roll of my eyes. I shove his arm off my shoulders and turn off the tv. "Alright, break is over, we should go make today count."
Zack groans so loud that China had to have heard it. "But Sky, it's Sunday, today is the day for rest." He pushes himself to a sitting position. "I'm tired."
I sigh. "I know, but what we're doing is fun, and we'll also get in some exercise." They all look at me skeptically. "We're gonna go swimming!"
They exchange glances and Jax laughs. "Yeah right, you're joking." I give him a look of complete seriousness and he stares at me like I'm crazy. "Come on Sky, that's so lame. We're not children."
"You're saying only kids can go swimming for fun? Since when did that become a thing?" They all exchange glances, trying to keep the smiles off their faces. "Guys, things are so serious all the time around here, let's go and let loose for once."
Jax forms a smirk on his face and I can almost see the ideas forming in his head. I furrow my eyebrows at him.
"You wanna go and let loose?" He asks, looking to the guys as well.
I narrow my eyes at him. "I don't like the look in your eyes. What are you thinking? Do I even want to know?"
He smiles, patting me lightly on the head. "Oh Sky, you're not going to want to miss this. I'll send someone up to help you get ready." He turns to the guys. "Come on guys, let's get ready." He looks back at me. "We leave in one hour, we're gonna have fun, trust me."
I'm left alone, stunned in my room. Jax has an idea and it can't be a good one with the look on his face.
A few minutes later, a girl comes up to my room with cases of something and an outfit wrapped in plastic. "Hi, my name is Marilyn Spires, I'm the one that goes shopping for you."
I didn't know someone went and bought clothes for me, but I guess I should've wondered how all my clothes got where they did. I always just figured my dad ordered them or something, which was dumb because I don't think my dad even knows what types of clothes I like.
