She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.
"Jeff, I need you to count those barrels one more time," I say as I walk through the warehouse. He nods and walks off. I look through the sheets on my clipboard again and groan heavily.
There was no way we were gonna make this months
quota.Bash walks over and stops in front of me, holding two cups. "One white chocolate mocha, no whip, just like you like." He hands me the cup and I take it, letting the hot coffee warm me up.
"Thank you," I say sweetly and continue walking and he falls into step beside me.
He looks over at the sheets of paper. "How's it looking?"
I groan again. "Not good, we're gonna need a miracle to get where we need to be." I walk into the office in the warehouse that is my dad's but I use when he isn't around. "I don't get it, what could possibly be causing these shortages?" I fall into the large chair and begin to massage my temples.
Bash sits down on the desk. "Stop worrying about them so much, they'll go up."
"Is it because of me?" I ask quietly.
"Sky," he leans closer to me. "I know it's hard but you have to stop caring so much about what people think about you. If they can't get over this then I don't think they were the right people to be doing business with anyway."
I look into his blue eyes. "That could ruin everything though. Am I willing to let my dad's entire life's work go to waste or can I swallow my pride and just let Hunter take my spot? We wouldn't lose clients and there wouldn't be conflict. I'm messing everything up because I'm too stubborn to let it go. What if I need to just let it go?"
He looks angry, but not like he's angry at me, just at the whole situation. "Your dad didn't fight this long for you to just give up and give away your title. Some clients might have been upset if they immediately appointed Hunter because he's not the son of the boss. What I'm trying to say is, you can't keep thinking about the what if's. If your uncle Michael had been the first born, if your father had re-married and had a son, if your mom hadn't passed. All of these things are things that caused today to happen and instead of dwelling on the past we have to focus on right now. Just prove them wrong, babe."
I smirk at him. Other than my dad, Bash has been a huge support in my life since my mom passed and I'm incredibly thankful for him. I hop up and wrap my arms around him.
"Thanks Bash," I say quietly into his neck.
The door flings open and in walks Zack, Jax, and Dean.
"Sky, I'm hungry, when's lunch?" Zack whines.
I pull myself from Bash and sit back down in the leather chair. I take a glance at my watch. "It's nine a.m. Zack, we won't eat lunch until another three hours or so."
He groans and throws himself dramatically on the sofa. "I'm so hungry," he says but his voice is muffled because his face is pressed into a pillow.
"You're acting like a child," Jax mumbles as he sits on the desk, examining his gun.
I sigh a look down at my watch. "I guess we could go grab something to eat, I'm done with my counting of inventory. How's it looking for you guys?"
