CHAPTER 19:

Feyre had now informed her older sisters of the attack. Azriel was happy about this as this now meant everybody had clarity and was fully aware of the situation. They were all seated in the living area in the House of Wind. All having their own private conversations with one another quietly whilst they all pondered the attack. Mor, Cassian, Nesta and Amren were talking whilst Rhys, Feyre and Elain were talking with one another. Earlier Mor had tugged Azriel's arm in an attempt to move him from his seat on the window ledge, but Azriel had firmly said no and did not relent.

This was always where he wanted to be. Alone, but with his family. Looking up at the night sky in the comfort and warmth of his home and his shadows who were never far away.

Elain had recently told Azriel that she knew an attack had happened and that she was not sure of its location until Feyre had informed her of the attack. As a Seer Elain's powers were slowly growing and becoming more and more useful to both Elain and the Night Court through her training which Azriel sometimes gave and the texts that she often read. Nesta's power, however, was being limited by Nesta herself. Azriel soon stopped that line of thinking. It was not up to him to judge Nesta and how she felt she needed to use her powers. It takes time, a different amount is needed for each person to heal and accept what has happened when having recently gone through a trauma.

Due to Elain's new stretch of power, the Night Court relaxed slightly. If Elain could sense the first attack, if there were any more approaching perhaps the middle Archeron sister could sense that too.

It had been 9 months now since the War had ended. 9 months since everything had happened, yet some wounds were still healing for everyone, and would often leave scars. Maybe not physically, but mentally, emotionally.

"I think we should inform the Seasonal courts of the attack," Rhysand spoke loud enough so everyone in the room could hear him. Azriel instantly agreed with his High Lord and so did the others, well, most of them.

"What if they do something stupid?" Cassian retorted, challenging his Lord.

"An attack like this is big, news will soon spread. If they find out we knew and didn't tell them, they could use that as a motive to do something to us and I am not prepared to take that sort of risk." He declared. Azriel perfectly understood Rhys' motives, but he also understood Cassian's to a certain degree. It was clear that everyone agreed with Rhys and Azriel felt a slight amount of pity for Cassian as his face visibly fell in defeat.

"Fine," he grumbled.

"I'll get started on the letters," Feyre said as she stood up from the sofa. "I'll be back at home," she whispered towards her mate. Rhysand grinned and all of us were very thankful that they lived in a separate house. The Cauldron only knew what those two got up to in the privacy of their own home and space. Feyre left the room and Rhys was quickly making excuses about how he also needed to get home due to his 'busy day' tomorrow. Cassian grinned and teased him quickly before Rhys left in a haste to meet his mate. Leaving Amren, Mor, Cassian, Nesta, Elain and Azriel in the room.

Soon after Rhysand and Feyre had left, the others also decided that their beds were calling them and soon most of them went to their beds. Except for Azriel and Amren. Azriel was still on the window ledge thinking about the attack, his behaviour and a wave of other things when Amren coughed politely, presumably to catch Azriel's attention, which did indeed work. Azriel opened his eyes and turned towards Amren sitting on the sofa.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes," she responded. "I was wondering if you could...look into someone for me." Confusion struck Azriel immediately. In the centuries they had known each other Amren had never asked Azriel to do anything like this before.

"Of course," he replied with an air of hesitance. "Who?"

"Varian."

"Why?"

"I'm not going to answer that," She snipped. "You know what, forget it." She changed her body position in order to get off the sofa.

"Wait, I'll look into him. Sorry, you just surprised me with this." She nodded and thanked the shadowsinger. Soon after, she was leaving to go to her apartment. Azriel supposed he should do the same as the others and go to sleep, but at the moment, he was feeling restless.
