HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉🎊

////

Stepping out of that dimly lit room had a huge contrast to the dark, grimy hallway that faced us. There were two optional directions to proceed in but my gut was pointing me in the right direction and since I am right handed, I will walk right.

The smell was pungent and horrible. I coughed as I got a whiff of the odour down here. It smelled like these people killed others and stored their bodies down here for a living.

Jason followed behind me as if he had no idea to where he was going. His face showed fear and his eyes wouldn't stop darting along the wall as if he was waiting for something to pop up out of nowhere.

"Jason would you stop acting so paranoid, you're getting me paranoid," I grumbled out sending him a quick glare. He briefly met my eyes before shying away.

"Sorry, Boss has cameras everywhere so they know we already left the room." He mumbled out.

Even if they did know where we were right now there is no turning back. I did not go through all those random fights, transformations and circumstances just to turn back because of some 'boss' that loves to hide out behind the scenes.

Instead of replying with a snarky comment towards his so-called boss, I tightened my grip on the chains that were dangling from my arms and continued walking into the dark abyss.

In a few minutes, Jason and I reached a point where the floor was built lower than what we were walking on, and the sound of high pressured water filled my ears. It sounded like we were approaching an underground river.

Jason tensed once hearing the sound. It wasn't much of a walk before we met with the large pond of water that didn't seem like it was flowing as heavily as it sounded. If anything, I could easily walk through this to get to the other side.

Granted, the water did look murky and brown and gave off a pungent smell, but there was no other way past this roadblock.

I kneeled in hopes of catching a glimpse of how deep this water was without testing it with my foot but it was way too dark and my vision was still sh*tty, even after my newfound powers.

"Clancy..." Jason's timid voice came from behind me. I stood from my kneeling position and watched as he nervously fiddled with his fingers. His eyes moved ever so often without staying one place.

I knew he wasn't looking at me, but could tell that the silence ensuing after him saying my name meant for him to continue.

"I...I don't think I can do this." He finished sighing and finally looking up at me. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at him in confusion.

"Why?" I asked him crossing my arms over each other and balancing my weight on my left foot. His mouth opened and closed, like a fish. He was either at a loss for words, or he was extremely embarrassed about what he was about to disclose.

"Jason." I sighed and walked up to his trembling figure. I put a hand on his shoulder for reassurance purposes.

"I know this might frighten you, but it's the only way we'll both get out of here alive." I looked at him through my eyelashes. He bit the side of his lip contemplating.

"Now." I clapped getting back in my kneeling position and turning my back to him. I went to take a step in the water when I felt a tug at my shirt. Jason had a slight grip on my shirt and was staring intensely into the murky brown water.

"Clancy this 'pond' is actually 20 feet deep so I would strongly advise not to take a step into the water." Jason had stated yet kept his eyes on the water. Once he was done talking his eyes met my questioning ones.
