It was six o'clock in the morning and Lloyd was awake standing in the courtyard, taking in the morning breeze. The morning's sunrise was a breathtaking display of radiant colours. Bright streaks of red, pink, and orange slowly overcame the dark blue and purple of the twilight sky. The sky resembled a prism; all the colours blended perfectly into each other. The sun itself was just peeking out of the horizon, and its brilliant rays already shined brightly and began to warm the air. Lloyd marvelled at the glistening reflection of the sun on the ocean and a thrilling feeling of awe swept over him. He thought about the note that Cole had left him, the yellowish parchment neatly folded in his pocket. Lloyd allowed the wind to whistle through his golden bangs, as tears fell like dew drops down his soft cheeks. His slightly tanned skin glowed in the scattering rays of sun and his jade green eyes twinkled sadly. He debated whether showing the note to the others, however; instructed by Cole not to. He'd hated how the others were keeping him locked in that bedroom all those months, lying to him about the reason he was there. They had tried to convince him he was there to analyse him because of how fast his wound had healed. It was actually because Jay is too over protective of him and wanted to keep an eye on him. Cole had written that he "knew" that Jay believed him to be the murderer of his parents, but that wasn't true. Jay just wanted to make sure nothing happened to Cole because he didn't want to loose anyone else he cared about. Just as he was about to walk inside, a blast of light flashed right next to the temple almost blinding Lloyd and blew him over.
A loud bang roused Kai awake and instantly dashed to the window, opening it and yelling down to Lloyd, who was peeling himself from the ground.
"Lloyd are you alright? What the hell was that?"
"I'm fine, and I don't know, there was a flash of light and a blow that knocked me over!" Lloyd called back. Kai ran downstairs into the courtyard oblivious to the fact that his hair was a mess and he was still in his pyjamas. They scanned around the edge of the temple and came across nine unconscious bodies on the level below. They decided to go and check it out. They used airjitzu to lower themselves to the ground and snaked between the bodies, eight males and one female. One caught Kai's eye and he stepped around a guy with black untamed hair with streaks of red, piercings on his lip and ears and all black clothes. This guy gave Kai a strange feeling of familiarity as if they shared something familiar. He felt a warmth growing towards him as he stared at the guy's pale face, thick with white foundation and black eyeliner.
The movement seemed to have stirred the guy Kai was looking at and opened his eyes to reveal twinkling chocolate brown eyes. He stared at Kai for a few minutes before lifting himself off the ground, clutching his head and swaying side to side. Kai caught him just as he toppled over.
"Thanks," he breathed, straightening himself. "Who are you exactly?"
"Me?" Kai asked, stupidly.
"Yes dummy, who else would I be talking to?" the guy chuckled, massaging his temple.
"Kai Smith, Master of Fire, leader of the ninja," Kai said, proudly.
"Pfft, leader my ass," Lloyd shot from looking over the girl's body.
"Master of fire? What do you mean?" the guy asked.
"I have an elemental power 'Emo' it's called fire." Kai snorted, cautious that the other eight were beginning to wake.
"I would appreciate it if you called me by my proper name," the other snapped,
"I'm sorry Eyeliner, but I would if I knew your name," Kai helped up a broad chested guy with wavy, dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Where are we?" the blonde exclaimed.
"Well Jake, we certainly aren't in paradise," Emo sighed. Kai coughed making him jump and he understood why.
"I'm only telling you my surname, I'll only give you my first once I gain full trust in you. Ferne, my surname is Ferne; I wish for all my friends to call me by it."
"You got it Fire Bird," the girl grabbed Lloyd's hand as he hoisted her into standing position. "I'm Nicco by the way, short for Niccolina."
"Nice, I'm Lloyd," he stationed his grip on her hand as he shook it. Nicco grinned back at him, as if she knew that they were going to get along.
"Pleasure, shall I introduce you to the others?" Nicco lead him around the others who had just woken up. She first pointed him to another guy with wavy, dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and slightly taller than the other blonde.
"This is Jesse," she then pointed to two guys standing with Jake, the one on the left had pitch black neatly parted hair whilst the other was styled into a wavy quiff.
"The one on the left is Andy, the other is Sam, the tall, lanky one over there is heath and that one is Luke." she pointed to a short guy with black dreadlocks. "Oh, and the one with the glasses is Ben."
