Luke Skywalker bowed his head, his eyes closed and his posture loose as silence surrounded him in the deep forests of Endor. Trees towered over the Jedi like mighty skyscrapers and the vegetation growing on the forest floor was thick and green with life.
The Jedi felt peaceful and soothed, surrounded by such beauty that continued to amaze him always. Being from the desert planet of Tatooine many like Luke tended to get overwhelmed by the beautiful colors of a forest, meadow or lake.
Everything whispered in soft tones speaking to him gently when something snapped, and the sound of a blaster echoed through the forest.
Luke spun around, his lightsaber springing to life as he deflected the laser bolt with ease, facing his attacker.
Han Solo laughed as he emerge from his hiding spot in the greenery, a grin spreading over his face as Luke deactivated his weapon and placed it back on his belt.
"Kid, I think you cheated." Han stated as he returned his blaster to the holster on his hip.
Luke shook his head, denying Han's claim. "You're just upset that you missed." The young man responded with a slight grin, causing Han to shake his head as well.
"Fine whatever, but I still think you cheated." Han replied with a smirk as Luke made his way to a nearby tree, grabbing the knapsack he had hung in the lower branches.
"Maybe I did, but you're the smuggler, always telling me to have something up my sleeve." Luke pointed out, now joining Han's side with the knapsack over his shoulder.
Han grinned as his put an arm around Luke's shoulder as if he were a mentor and Luke his student. "Ah yes, but I said 'sleeves' Luke, sleeves. And maybe something in your robe too." Han added, pulling at Luke's black Jedi uniform slightly to annoy the young man.
"Oh get off." Luke whined, sounding like the farmboy from Tatooine as he wiggled out of Han's grasp and pretended to huff in exasperation, straightening out the wrinkle Han had made in the black garb.
Han grinned as they started to walk through the woods. They should have been scouting, in fact the young men half suspected Leia had simply wanted to get rid of them. Neither could organize worth a laser brain's skill and Han had become restless.
Luke on the other hand had been very somber the past few months and spent a lot of time in his room doing what appeared to be nothing. Leia had told Han she thought Luke might be mourning the death of their blood father, after all Luke had never really gotten to know Anakin Skywalker before he died, and Anakin's Force Ghost hadn't come around since the celebration with the Ewoks.
Leia had proposed that Han take Luke to do a week's worth of scouting, using a comm to report if anything was out of the ordinary.
This was day one, and already Han had been able to get Luke to smile, and even whine. Han felt particularly proud of that bit since Luke was not the whiny type anymore, he was quiet and reserved now, not showing much emotion and not talking much either.
But around Han, Luke seemed happy, willing to even play a game with his friend. It had been Luke's idea to have Han try to shoot him from any angle the rebel smuggler wished.
Han hadn't been very keen on the idea but Luke insisted, and Han felt like maybe accepting Luke's proposal would make him happy. So far it had worked as the two friends continued to the next marker with grins on their faces.
After a while of walking in silence Han noticed Luke's grim, thoughtful look return. What was on his friend's mind?
"Hey Luke..." Han began, causing Luke to look up at the taller man with a quick motion of his neck, as if Han's voice had startled him slightly.
