Alexis stared blankly as the Argents moved all their belongings into a moving van. Emily Argent, Alexis' best friend, pretended that Alexis wasn't there.
Usually, Emily would've ran to her best friend to talk. But not today. Not ever again. Emily had convinced herself that she was dangerous.
Emily and Allison's mom's death was said to be an accident. Alexis had once believed that, too.
Emily was trying to be strong by putting on a brave face. But her eyes were red and puffy, and Alexis could tell that she had been crying. Alexis was always very good at reading people.
Allison was crying, unlike her sister. Alexis did not think that Allison was any weaker than her sister, though.
Emily's father had warned her not to ever come near them again. But Alexis had always had a bit of a screw you attitude, and needed to see her best friend one last time.
Emily's short hair blew in the wind, making her look even prettier. Her scar above her collarbone stood out, but Alexis had always thought that it gave her character.
Emily's father loaded the last of the boxes into the moving van, helped everyone in, then started to close the van's doors.
"Wait!"Alexis called, starting to run closer to the van. "Emily!"
Emily's father gave Alexis the death stare, then continued to close the doors.
"Daddy, wait!"Emily told her father and hopped out of the van. She sprinted towards Alexis, her hair blown back because of the wind.
Alexis and Emily hugged each other, tighter than usual.
"Please don't go! Please don't leave me alone!"Alexis begged. She was too young to know that it was out of Emily's or Allison's control.
"I'll phone you. Everyday. Okay?"
"Okay,"Alexis said, clearly still upset.
"Goodbye, Alexis,"Emily said and pulled out of the hug. She started to sprint away.
"Goodbye, Emily,"Alexis whispered to herself.
